Turck Inclinometers with CANopen Interface

TURCK has expanded its broad offering of inclinometers with the addition of a new dual axis inclinometer sensor with a CANopen interface for angular tilt detection. These sensors have angle measurements of ±10, 45 and 60 degrees. Inclinometer sensors may be used in a wide variety of industries to solve unique feedback requirements where the customer needs to level platforms, control tilt angle or control a dancer.

About Inclinometer Technology
The new TURCK Q42 inclinometer measures angular tilt in reference to gravity. At the heart of the TURCK Q42 inclinometer is a MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) device that incorporates a micro-electromechanical capacitive element into the sensor that utilizes two parallel plate electrodes, one stationary and one attached to a spring-mass system. Movement causes acceleration that produces deflection in the non-stationary electrode. This results in a measurable change in the capacitance between the two plates that is proportional to the angle of deflection. All measured values and parameters are accessible via the object directory. The micro board design in the MEMS technology allows for a compact, precise inclinometer in a very robust, industrialized package.

Mersen Surge-Trap Type 1 X-Series Surge Protection Devices

Mersen, formerly Ferraz Shawmut, introduces its new X series line of UL 1449 third edition approved surge protection devices (SPDs), the Surge-Trap Type 1 X-Series, which provide overvoltage protection for all locations in the facility with the smallest footprints available. The new X-Series SPDs features industry leading TPMOV® technology inside.

The new series includes the Surge-Trap XR series, which provides overvoltage protection for distribution branch panels, control panels and equipment. The advanced performance Surge-Trap XP series provides overvoltage protection for larger distribution panels and branch panels. And, the Surge-Trap XT series offers advanced technology surge protection and provides high end protection for critical locations and service entrance gear.

“There are many SPDs on the market that no longer meet the UL1449 standard. To know if a SPD product is in compliance, look for the UL holographic label on the device. If it has a UL holographic label, the SPD is in compliance. If it doesn’t have one, it does not meet the new UL 1449 Third Edition standard,” explains Janelle Woodfall, Mersen Product Manager.

The Surge-Trap Type 1 X-Series SPDs are rated for NEMA 4X enclosures and suited for system voltages from 120V to 600V. They have a 20kA (In) nominal discharge current and high 200kA SCCR ratings. Agency approvals include UL 1449 third edition, IEC 61643, CE, ANSI/IEEE C62.41 (XR-series), RoHS compliant, and UL 96A lightening protection master label.

Red Lion Controls Voted Best Panel Meter for 10th Year in a Row

The readers of Control Design magazine have again selected Red Lion as their number one choice in panel meters. Red Lion has won the panel meter category of the Reader's Choice Award every year since 2001, the first year the award was given. The meters won by a 20% margin over the next closest competitor.

The balloting for this survey went to machine builders and systems integrators who reported to Control Design that they had the authority to specify, recommend, or purchase industrial automation and control products for industrial machines. Vendors were not included in the balloting, and any known responses from vendors were not counted. The voting was completely un-aided, therefore no lists of vendors or product brands were provided. Readers were simply asked which was the one best company for products in the panel meter category. Red Lion was also voted as having very good to excellent service and support for their meters.

Crydom SeriesOne DR Solid State Relays

Crydom' SeriesOne DR solid state relays incorporate proprietary thermal management technology resulting in exceptional output ratings of 6 and 12 amps at 40° ambient in compact 11 and 18mm wide DIN rail mounted housings. Ideally suited for heating, lighting or motion control applications where DIN rail space may be limited, the unique design provides both greater power density than previously available in DIN rail mounted solid state relays, and greater safety for personnel by eliminating exposed hot metal surfaces typical of SSRs utilizing external heat sinks to attain comparable ratings.

Honeywell Sensing and Control 225mm Linear SMART Position Sensor

Superior Measurement. Accurate. Reliable. Thinking.

The SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration is Honeywell Sesning and Control's second non-contacting linear position sensor, joining the SMART Position Sensor 75 mm Configuration that was introduced in December 2009. They sense the position of a magnet relative to a sensor in the following sensing ranges:
  • 225 mm configuration: 0 to 225 mm [0 to 8.86 in]
  • 75 mm configuration: 0 to 75 mm [0 to 3.0 in]

Honeywell's SMART Position Sensors are one of the most durable, adaptable and lightweight linear position devices available in the industry today. Their simple, non-contact design eliminates mechanical failure mechanisms, reduces wear and tear, improves reliability and durability, enhances operation efficiency and safety, and minimizes downtime.

Honeywell Sensing and Control WLS Heavy-Duty Wireless Limit Switches

Introducing the new Limitless™ WLS Heavy-Duty Wireless Limit Switches, the latest in Honeywell Sensing and Control's series of wireless limit switches, combining the best of MICRO SWITCH™ HDLS heavy-duty limit switches with the latest wireless technology. Limitless™ Series switches have the same durable design, temperature ratings, and sealing as standard MICRO SWITCH™ limit switches, but they're wireless. Wireless offers advantages over traditional wired switches by reducing total installed costs as there are no wires to install, no wear-and-tear to mend, and no cords to ever replace. The Limitless™ Series allows for increased flexibility for temporary, remote, permanent, and reconfigurable installations.

Honeywell's Limitless™ WLS Wireless Switch uses a global, license-free RF wireless 802.15.4 WPAN protocol, and has up to a 305 m (1000 ft) line-of-sight communication range, yet consumes low power to prolong battery life. It also features an EN 50041 metal enclosure for operation in tough environments and conforms to IP67 and NEMA 1, 3, 4, 6, 6P, 12 and 13 standards.

Carling Technologies G-Series Hydraulic Magnetic Circuit Breaker

Carling Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the new G-series, hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker. This product is designed for use in DIN rail applications, and is suitable for domestic and international use as it meets IEC spacing requirements (TUV/CCC approvals pending) and has UL 1077 and CSA agency approvals. The G-series is rated up to 63 Amps, has a conventional 17.5 mm form/fit DIN rail breaker housing and is available in 1 to 4 poles

Features:
  • Optional integrated auxiliary switch embedded within the breaker. The optional auxiliary switch does not require a separate housing, or pole. As a result, the G-series takes up less panel space than the other brands.
  • Utilizes hydraulic/magnetic technology, which provides precise circuit protection operation and performance even when exposed to extremely hot and/or cold application environments. Many other DIN rail breakers utilize a thermal bimetal element requiring a de-rating factor to prevent nuisance tripping in hot environments, or a potentially destructive long delay in cold environments.
