Turck Zener Diode Barriers for Hazardous Areas

TURCK introduces MZB series Zener diode barriers, designed to effectively limit excess energy before it reaches a hazardous area. The MZB barriers provide convenient removable terminals within an extremely efficient and space-saving design—with channels as small as 6.3mm wide—to consume minimal panel space. Additionally, the MZB series features a bussed power feed and offers both relay and solid-state switch models.

Each channel of the MZB Zener diode barriers is fitted with two stages of pulse-tested Zener diodes and an infallible terminating resistor. If an electrical fault such as an overvoltage occurs in the non-hazardous area of the barrier, the Zener diodes limit the voltage available to hazardous area circuits, while the series resistance limits the current. Within this circuit is a fuse designed to immediately and safely rupture if the excess energy continuously applied to the barrier exceeds the design criteria for the loop.

Honeywell Sensing and Control SS311PT/SS411P Bipolar Hall-Effect Digital Position Sensors

The new SS311PT and SS411P Bipolar Hall-Effect Digital Position Sensors include a built-in pull-up resistor that eliminates the customer having to purchase an external resistor for many applications, reducing total system cost. These sensors utilize a downsized integrated circuit, resulting in lower costs for customers, as well as a low 2.7 Vdc supply voltage that allows for use in low voltage applications. The SS311PT is a subminiature SOT-23 surface mount package supplied on tape and reel. The SS411P is a small, leaded, flat TO-92 style available in bulk packaging. These devices are designed to respond to alternating North and South poles in high-volume, cost-sensitive rotary sensing applications.

Honeywell Sensing and Control SMART Position Sensor

The SMART Position Sensor, 75 mm Linear Configuration, is Honeywell's first non-contacting linear position sensor that allows unparalleled accuracy and reliability in applications that require measurement of any linear movement. This sensor is considered smart because it can essentially think for itself. It has the ability to self-calibrate because it uses a patented combination of an ASIC and an array of magnetoresistive (MR) sensors to accurately and reliably determine the position of a magnet attached to a moving object so that the object's position can be determined. With this sensor, Honeywell has utilized MR technology through the ASIC at a level never before accomplished. These devices are designed for potential industrial, medical, and aerospace applications.

Honeywell Sensing and Control 15, 30 and 100psi ASDX Silicon Pressure Sensors

Honeywell is pleased to announce the third and final upgrade this year to the ASDX Series Silicon Pressure Sensor portfolio with new 15, 30, and 100 psi low pressure devices. As you recall, in May we upgraded the portfolio with new 1 and 5 psi low pressure sensors. In September we launched new ultra-low pressure devices that included 0 to 10 inches of H2O gage, ±10 inches of H2O differential, and ±5 inches of H2O differential. All of these sensors incorporate ASIC technology for a fast response, an SPI or I2C digital output option, and a choice of a 3.3 V or 5 V power supply. These devices are designed for potential medical and industrial applications.

Phoenix Contact Surge Protection Sets for Solar Installations

Phoenix Contact now offers pre-assembled surge protection sets for the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry.

The surge arresters in the PV sets have temperature-monitored, high-capacity varistors with optical fault warning and dynamic disconnect device. The PV sets are pre-assembled protection solutions in IP65 installation housing.

The PV-SET DC and PV-SET Multistring offer surge protection on the PV generator side only. They are designed for small-scale systems with a solar string or PV systems with several solar strings.

PV-SET DC/AC protects all power lines in the system, including both the PV generator side and the power supply. It provides optimum protection to an inverter, since the pre-assembled solution protects the DC input and the AC outputs from surge voltages.

Phoenix Contact CLIPLINE Cabinet Wire Duct

Phoenix Contact introduces a new line of wire duct cabinet add-ons that simplify control cabinet wiring. With CLIPLINE wire duct, wiring is neat and secure, making it easy to replace or add wiring later.

"Fingers" on the ducts have two score lines, allowing easy removal. The fingers are flexible and will not snap when the user runs wire through them. The wire duct features a notched score line that eliminates the need for notching pliers to break off the fingers. However, breaking the wall will require the use of a cutter.

The cover's contour allows it to snap on easily and fit securely. The duct and cover are available as a complete set, or the covers can be ordered individually. Ranging in size from 25 mm to 120 mm, the wire duct is suitable for a variety of applications. The wiring duct is available in two meter lengths, matching Phoenix Contact's standard DIN rail.

Turck 2-Wire DC and NAMUR Cylinder Position Sensors

TURCK has expanded its line of BIM-UNT cylinder position sensors with a new 2-wire DC version, along with a NAMUR option for intrinsically safe applications. The cylinder position sensor’s wear-free design and short circuit protection make them a viable alternative to electromagnetic switches in the automotive industry. To further their applicability in this industry, TURCK has integrated a weld resistant TPU cable.

With a total length of only 28 mm, the BIM-UNT is one of the most compact cylinder position sensors on the market. The active sensing faces are located directly at the end of the sensor to safely detect the piston rod’s end position on compact, short-stroke cylinders.

BIM-UNT sensors use magneto-resistive, board level technology that provides improved performance and housing. The sensor comes with a quick mount tab that helps seat the sensor in the cylinder's groove – even before the screw is tightened – making single-handed mounting possible. The position of the screw has also been moved away from the cable-end to provide cable strain relief, while also ensuring the sensor remains in place if the cable is pulled.

BIM-UNT sensors include a broad range of accessories, from precision mounting to wire-strain relief products, to help install the sensors in all T-groove, dovetail, round and tie rod pneumatic cylinders.

Fortress Interlocks eGard Slide Latch

Fortress has introduced the Slide Latch to its eGard range of modular safety interlocks that regulate access to dangerous machinery.

The new eGard Slide Latch is a robust door locking device, for both hinged and sliding doors, that features an integrated tongue so it can be used in conjunction with key modules, safety switches and machine control functions. The Slide Latch handle has a built in lever to release the door lock and allows reliable actuator operation in combination with all door locking eGard configurations. The Slide Latch can easily be mounted onto current eGard configurations by simply mounting the head bridge on the existing head module.

The eGard Slide Latch is available in two versions, either with or without an internal release function that can unlock the door from the inside and prevents the operator from re-locking themselves back in; the machine can only be restarted from outside the guarded area.

The eGard Slide Latch provides easy handing and secondary action for locking and unlocking doors to safeguarded areas. It can be used in conjunction with all other eGard door locking configurations and is suitable for use in applications up to SIL3 (EN/IEC 62061), Category 4 and PLe (EN/ISO 13849-1).
