Pepperl+Fuchs AS-Interface 3.0 Handheld Programming Device

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces the AS-Interface Handheld VBP-HH1-V3.0-110V addressing device for AS-Interface specification 3.0. This easy-to-use AS-Interface programming tool can be used to program and test the functionality of AS-Interface slaves, provide permanent data exchange with AS-Interface slaves, support data exchange with 4E4A slaves in extended addressing mode, and indicate the safety code for AS-Interface Safety-at-Work slaves.

“These programmers don’t stop at addressing. In fact many significant functions, including reading inputs and setting outputs, can be performed remotely with the handheld. For instance, if a user is in the field and isn’t sure if a valve is working properly he can disconnect the valve from the network and replace it with the programmer. After doing so the handheld will automatically provide the address and go to data mode where the valve can be stroked and the limit switches can be read directly on the display,” says Tim Cicerchi, Product Manager, Industrial Bus and ID Systems, Pepperl+Fuchs.

The AS-Interface 3.0 Handheld is an enhancement to the company’s version 2.1 programmer, and offers a number of significant new features, including:

  • Support for specification 3.0 profiles, with the ability to set outputs on 4in/4out modules with extended addressing
  • Extended “power-on” time to support the programming of safe output modules
  • Ability to read the safety sequence from safety input modules
  • Semi-automatic addressing, where the unit stores previously programmed addresses for quick programming of an entire network, while minimizing the chance of a duplicate address
  • Faster address programming, where arrow keys and a program button are the sole requirements to set the module address

These battery-powered (battery charger included) handheld programmers provide short circuit and overload protection of the slave connection. They are IP20 protected and rated for use in temperatures ranging from 0 … 40°C (32 … 104°F).

Robroy Industries / Stahlin PolyStar Polycarbonate Enclosures

Made in the U.S.A., PolyStar™ NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosures by Stahlin can withstand rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, hose directed water --- and provide superior impact and flame protection.

PolyStar™ Enclosures are intended to be utilized for outdoor and indoor applications. The polycarbonate contained in the PolyStar™ Series, as well as the enclosure, have passed UL tests for suitability. The polycarbonate resin in the PolyStar™ Series received the best rating, an "F1" per UL 746C. This means that the resin has passed tests for UV exposure and water immersion. The PolyStar™ Series enclosures are rated 3R, 4, 4X, 12 per UL 50 and IP66 per IEC 60529. This means that the enclosure provides protection against ingress (of rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water), impact, and flame protection. The material rating and the product rating can assure the user that the PolyStar™ Series enclosures are suitable for outdoor use and exposure.

PolyStar™ Series enclosures are manufactured with polycarbonate designed to perform in cold weather applications. In general, the product performance will not be adversely affected until temperatures below -40°F are realized. At temperatures below this level, stress, tension, and pressure could start to impact the enclosure's reliability. This includes the latching, opening and/or incidental impacts. In the absence of these potential threats, the enclosures should remain unaffected by the low temperatures.

Features
  • 5 Standard Sizes: 8x6x4, 10x8x4, 12x10x6, 14x12x6 and 16x14x8
  • Latches and Hinges Do Not Penetrate Enclosure

Phoenix Contact TWE-Basic Trusted Wireless Ethernet Radio

Phoenix Contact has added the RAD-ISM-900-EN-BD/B (also known as TWE-Basic) to the Trusted Wireless Ethernet (TWE) radio family. This new TWE-Basic radio offers many of the same features that are in the standard TWE product, including TWE 2.0 technology. The TWE radios operate at 1 watt in the 900 MHz spectrum, offering over-the-air data rates up to 500 kbps, and incorporate up to 256-bit AES encryption.

The TWE-Basic is a “slave-only” device, so it must be used in conjunction with a standard TWE or TWE-BUS radio acting as the master. A system can be constructed consisting of TWE-Basic radios as the slave units and the standard TWE or TWE-BUS as the master/repeater radios, reducing the overall cost of the network.

Features:
  • TWE v 2.0 technology
  • Software RF filtering capabilities – reduces the effect of in-band interference on the system
  • Layer 2/3 firewall capability – reduces unnecessary traffic over the wireless network
  • Improved EtherNet/IP support
  • Enhanced security with 128/192/256-bit AES encryption
  • Adjustable over-the-air data rates up to 500 kbps
  • Slave-ONLY operation
  • -40 to 65 degrees Celsius operating temp

Mersen Helio Protection Photovoltaic Fuse Line

Mersen is pleased to announce the launch of the industry’s first UL 2579 listed range of dedicated photovoltaic fuses ― the Helio Protection fuse line, which includes the HP6M, HP10M, and HP6J.

The new photovoltaic fuse line provides superior overcurrent protection at the combiner box and inverter levels and covers applications ranging from 1 to 400A, 600VDC, and 1000VDC. The enhanced fuse construction of the Helio Protection series makes it ideal for continuous temperature and current cycling withstand adding to system longevity. Low minimum breaking capacity capabilities of 1.35 times the fuse-rated current value allows for safe circuit interruption under typical low-fault current conditions produced by PV arrays.

Protect off-grid or grid-tied PV systems from unexpected ground faults and line faults using the Helio Protection fuse line. Primary customers for this fuse are solar combiner and re-combiner box builders, solar inverter manufacturers, and solar installers and integrators.

Banner Engineering Overmolded Flex Relief Plastic Fibers

Banner Engineering's new plastic fiber assemblies provide additional resistance to fiber damage or breakage in high flex environments. The PVC flex relief ensure a minimum bend radius at the fiber to ferrule transition. A flex life of > 10, 000 cycles is typical. Sensing range is the same to the equivalent non-flex relieved fiber assembly, except for the smallest fiber core. The fibers also have higher tensile pull resistance than non-overmolded design which helps reduce accidental damage to the fibers.

Features
  • Provide additional resistance to fiber damage or breakage in high flex environments.
  • Stainless steel threaded ferrule and stainless steel mounting hardware
  • PVC overmolded flex relief reduces stress at the fiber to ferrule transition
  • Higher tensile pull resistnace than non-overmolded design to reduce accidental damage to the fibers during installation and maintenance
  • Works with plastic fiber brackets: SMBFP6, SMBFP4, SMBFP4N, and SMPFP3
