Pepperl+Fuchs Reflectors for High Pressure Chemical Washdown

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces Reflectors’ H20X40F and H60F rectangular reflectors for use with photoelectric sensors in food and beverage processing applications.  They feature IP69K protection to withstand severe high pressure and high temperature washdown, and Ecolab certification for compatibility with common caustic cleaning agents and disinfectants.

“These reflectors are ruggedized to survive extreme washdown conditions in which other reflectors would get water between the reflector and backing, or even break down over time.  They can also be used in applications that require hygienic design, and that require components resistant to common caustic cleaning agents and detergents. This means less time and money spent replacing damaged reflectors in these environments,” says Jeff Allison, Product Manager.

The H20X40F and H60F are corner-cube reflectors, meaning that they can be used with polarized and non-polarized retro-reflective photoelectric sensors. These reflectors are an ideal complement to Pepperl+Fuchs’ ML7 series photoelectric sensors, which are also IP69k protected and have ECOLAB certification.

Red Lion Controls GSM Cellular Connectivity for G3 Series HMIs

Red Lion announces the release of the G3GSM - GSM Cellular Modem card for the G3 series HMIs. This new expansion card allows the G3 to communicate via cellular technology, providing unprecedented connectivity for remote and mobile applications.

The G3 series of HMIs have always provided cellular connectivity, but only through the use of external third-party modems. By embedding the technology within the interface, Red Lion has created a reliable, easy to configure HMI for remote asset management applications. The expansion module requires a standard network provider "SIM card", allowing you to choose their own cellular plan.

Once connected to a cell network, you can take advantage of the G3's powerful feature set. The built-in web server allows you to monitor and control their processes, while the advanced messaging function dials out to provide early warning of process failures via text messages and email. The integrated IT-Ready data logger records system performance and events for later review. The powerful port-sharing feature even allows many PLCs and other devices to be remotely reprogrammed through the G3 for the ultimate in remote system management.

The G3GSM card is configured via Red Lion's free Crimson® 2.0 software.

Pepperl+Fuchs RMS Microwave Motion Sensors for Automatic Pedestrian Doors

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces RMS Series Microwave Motion Sensors.  These microwave motion detection sensors are specifically designed to actuate automatic sliding, swinging, folding or revolving pedestrian doors when approaching traffic is detected.

Three models are currently available.  The RMS-M-NA sensor is the basic model with 1 SPST relay output that operates in normally-open or normally-closed mode.  The RMS-D-NA sensor features “turtle-mode” capability to detect even extremely slow motion, as well as cross-talk suppression that tunes out people who are walking past, but not towards, the door.  In addition to these features, the RMS-D-RC-NA sensor includes a remote control with an LCD display for easy programming and adjustments, and to quick viewing of current settings and menu options.

“Compared with infrared based sensing technology, RMS microwave motion sensing is more immune to the effects of vibration, sunlight and temperature that can otherwise compromise reliable operation.  Microwave sensing can also be mounted higher to detect approaching persons over a broader area, and it can sense through many types of enclosures,” says Jeff Allison, Product Manager.

RMS microwave motion sensors have a compact, pod-shaped housing, with no external adjustments to eliminate tampering.  They are easy to install and adjust, and can be mounted as high as 4 meters (13 feet).  They are compliant as an activation device to ANSI/BHMA 156.10-2005, and are FCC compliant for use in the United States.

New Products from Banner Engineering

WORLD-BEAM QS30ELVC Clear Object Detector
The QS30ELVC was developed to provide an easy-to-use, high-performance retroreflective sensor optimized for detection of clear, translucent, or opaque objects. Built on an advanced optical design, the sensor rejects false prox signals from mirror-like surfaces without relying on the polarizing filters used on previous Banner sensors. The optical design of the sensor ensures reliable detection of plastic PET bottles, glass bottles and containers, clear films and wrappers, and optically engineered surfaces such as mirrors, LCD glass with polarizing films, or semi-conductor wafers.

This sensor has a faster response time than ultrasonic sensors.
  • Reliable detection of clear, translucent, or opaque targets including mirror-like surfaces
  • Automatic compensation algorithm compensates for dust or contamination on the sensor or reflector
  • 3 selectable thresholds based on type of target being detected
