New Products from Phoenix Contact

MINI 12VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply

Especially compact and easy-to-use, the new MINI-DC-UPS/12DC/4 is a combination of the power supply unit and an uninterrupted power supply in the conventional ME housing. It secures the operation of all connected 12 V consumers in the electrical systems both in the case of an error-free supply network and in the event of mains interferences.

The combined solution enables a slim design with dimensions of 67.5 x 99 x 107 mm. The wide-range input allows input voltages between 85 V AC and 264 V AC; 2 A is provided at the output with a regulated and adjustable output voltage between 10 V DC and 16 V DC. The rechargeable battery module supplies an output voltage between 13.6 V DC and 9.6 V DC in the buffer mode. A 1.6 Ah or a 2.6 Ah rechargeable battery module is used depending on the required buffer time. The buffer time varies depending on the load current.

The system availability is increased using extensive signaling through control lamps and active switching outputs. The charging process of the rechargeable battery module, the operational readiness, the buffer mode and the alarm messages are displayed before the rechargeable battery module is discharged. The service life of the rechargeable battery module can be increased by optimum battery management; for example, a temperature-compensated charging protects the rechargeable battery module at high ambient temperatures. An integrated timeout minimizes installation costs considerably.

Earth Leakage Module for PowerPact H- and J-Frame Circuit Breakers
Industry experts indicate that the majority of all electrical circuit faults that occur in industrial and commercial power systems are initially manifested as ground faults (also called earth leakage or residual current). Detecting ground faults before they reach hazardous levels helps avoid damage to critical process equipment. This allows preventive maintenance to be scheduled before costly damage occurs, minimizing costly downtime.

The Square D® earth leakage module (ELM) provides protection against low-level ground fault in 15 A to 250 A circuits. The ELM is a UL 1053-listed module which connects to a PowerPact H- or J-Frame molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) to provide low-level, ground-fault sensing and protection functions with sensitivity ranges between 30 mA and 3 A. Each ELM has adjustments for five current sensitivity levels and four time delays. This allows settings to help maximize protection and minimize risk of nuisance tripping, in each application (the time delay defines the length of time during which the leakage will persist, before tripping is initiated).

Pepperl+Fuchs Flat to Flat Cable Splitter Box

The VAZ-T1-FK-CLAMP1 AS-Interface Flat-to-Flat Cable Splitter Box with two double spring terminals from Pepperl+Fuchs’ is now rated for 8A operating current. The 8A rating allows users to transfer the same current as is possible with competitive splitter boxes, but in a smaller, lower cost package. With the ability to connect two cables and transfer 8A of current, users will be able to connect machine sections at full current.

“Particularly useful for applications inside of junction boxes, this splitter box greatly simplifies and speeds the connection of devices to AS-Interface. It finally facilitates the simple connection of junction boxes and panels to the trunk line, as well as power supplies and AS-Interface scanners to the bus without sacrificing current capabilities,” says Helge Hornis, PhD, Manager, Intelligent Systems.

The splitter box features a compact, one-part housing with IP20 protection for robust operation and simple installation. This splitter is part of a family of solutions that, with a low starting list price, makes AS-Interface wiring even more cost attractive.

Because of its simplicity, AS-Interface is an ideal wiring solution for machines that are built, tested and broken down for shipment before being reassembled at the customer plant. Typical applications include general conveyor and specialty machines. Safety solutions using AS-Interface Safety at Work also benefit from this timesaving adapter.
