Phoenix Contacts's VAL-US product line is a UL Listed series of pluggable surge protection devices that utilizes high-capacity varistors to provide high-quality protection. The VAL-US series off ers status indication contacts for remote monitoring, as well as hot-swappable plugs with integrated visual-status indication for easy maintenance and replacement. Banner's T18-2 Series, the next generation of the popular T18 Series, was designed for a higher level of performance in harsh, washdown environments. The new T18-2 photoelectric sensors have an FDA-grade shatterproof plastic housing and are IP69K rated and ECOLAB™ certified to protect against water ingress and chemical washdown. In thermal shock environments, the all-plastic, ultrasonically welded, and epoxy encapsulated housing of the T18-2 outperforms competitive sensors with metal housings.

  • IP69K and Epoxy Encapsulation for Wet Environments: The T18-2 Series sensor is designed to hold up to high-pressure, high-temperature washdown. The epoxy fill eliminates internal air cavities in the housing that can lead to condensation inside sensors during temperature cycling.

  • ECOLAB™ Certified FDA Grade Plastic: The sensors have been tested by Ecolab to certify that they resist damage when exposed to common cleaning chemicals. The plastic used throughout the T18-2 is made of FDA-approved shatterproof plastic for use on food production lines.

  • Improved Design for Easier Cleaning: Crevices have been minimized to eliminate debris buildup. The knurls have also been removed from the nut, and the light pipes have been over-molded for easy cleaning. All labels have been removed and replaced with permanent laser etching. Installing the nut, optional seal kit, and bracket will cover all exposed threads on the nose.

  • Durable Ultrasonic Weld for a Superior Seal: Ultrasonic welding is an advantage of using an all-plastic housing and creates a superior joint. Metal sensors contain plastic windows and other components that are joined mechanically or with adhesives. The joints are then subject to thermal shock because the metal and plastic components expand and contract at different rates, creating small gaps and allowing water inside the sensor. Ultrasonic welding fuses plastic components into one solid piece of durable plastic that is not affected by thermal shock.

Phoenix Contact's new VL2 EX series industrial PC platform expands the VL2 family with triple hazardous locations (HazLoc)-approved IPCs. 

The VL2 EX BPC models feature Class I, Division 2, ATEX Zone 2, and IECex Zone 2 HazLoc approvals. The PPC models have Class I, Div. 2, ATEX Zone2/22, and IECex Zone2/22 HazLoc approvals.

Banner's iVu Series Vision Sensors are now available in models capable of color inspections. iVu Color Sensors build on the inspection capabilities offered by iVu Vision Sensors by enabling inspections based on color or variations in color, as well as by type, size, orientation, or position. They offer the same ease-of-use, features, and compact design as other iVu Vision Sensors, and are available in models with an integrated or remote touch screen.


Application Flexibility: In addition to the Match, Area, Blemish, and Sort sensor types standard to iVu Series Vision Sensors, iVu Color Sensors feature three new sensor types:
  • Average Color allows you to monitor objects for color or variations in color
  • Color Area verifies that a feature, or multiple features, are present and are the correct color
  • Color Compare can be used to verify that an object matches a reference color
Sensor types can be used alone or together to solve more applications and more complex applications.

Banner Engineering K50 and K30 Pro Series Software Indicators

Banner Engineering's Pro indicators are programmable multi-color indicators that can be configured with a variety of colors and animation options in-field. This capability was formerly only available with Banner’s IO-Link indicators, but it is now available with discretely controlled indicators thanks to the new Pro Editor Software.

The Pro Editor software allows you to easily customize indicators with a wide variety of color and animation options. It is an ideal solution for you who don’t use IO-Link, but who want more control and customization than a standard indicator provides. The Pro Editor software is currently compatible with K30 Pro and K50 Pro models and must be used with a Pro Converter Cable, which is sold separately.

Banner Engineering's K50U Series Wireless Ultrasonic Sensors are now available in models developed specifically for use in small tanks, totes, barrels, and 55-gallon drums. These models have a 100 - 1000 mm sensing range. The smaller dead zone (0 - 99 mm) enables greater precision in measuring and monitoring content levels in small containers and other space constrained deployments.

  • Wireless Connectivity: Used in combination with a Performance Series 1-Wire Serial Node or a Multihop Modbus Radio, a K50U will provide content level information from remote and mobile assets without the expense or hassle of running communication wire

Phoenix Contact IMA IO and Network FL EPA 2

Phoenix Contact's new adapters combine Bluetooth and WLAN transmission in a single robust module with degree of protection IP 65. Depending on the application, these compact modules can continue to be used with internal, but also with external antennas. The connections for Ethernet and power supply are established via M12 connections. Since these new wireless modules have the same dimensions, mounting holes and connections as the previous versions, replacing them is simple. Only the configuration needs to be adjusted. 

With the Ethernet Port Adapter, your Ethernet-capable automation devices can communicate wirelessly with the control network in harsh industrial environments via Wireless LAN or Bluetooth. Phoenix Contact’s new VIP-ER with Input/Output Accessories (IOAs) system, optimized for Honeywell Experion Universal I/O, helps process engineers get the most out of Universal I/O. The system combines high-speed marshalling with the ability to configure wiring functionality on a per-channel basis.

The VIP-ER with IOAs consists of a base, along with several function-specific input/output modules and compatible accessories. New to Banner Engineering’s  Sure Cross Q45 Series of wireless sensors, serial nodes, switches and push buttons are two-button push buttons, non-contact magnetic sensors, and new models of their remote discrete input nodes and one-button push buttons. These models all feature a user-configurable multicolor LED indicator for local display of status.

  • Remote Monitoring & Control: Plug-and-play wireless solution is easy to setup, use, and reconfigure. Many Q45 models enable the monitoring, management, and actuation of devices in applications where access, infrastructure, movement, or mobility make wired solutions impractical, ineffective, or cost-prohibitive. 
  • Simplified Ordering & Stocking: Red, yellow, green, and blue LED indicator color options (user selects two) are standard in these new Q45 models. The LED indicator can be configured for a solid or flashing two-color display. This versatility makes it easy to meet the specific indication needs of any application. 
  • Local Indication of Status: Each LED indicator can be linked to the function of the Q45 or to other inputs within the Sure Cross wireless network it is a part of, providing at-a-glance status information.
New Models
  • Two-button push buttons enable remote control of a wide range of industrial devices with multiple operational modes. They can be configured for toggle and momentary operation to support OPEN/CLOSE or ON/OFF applications. They can also be used for simple notification or acknowledgement applications. 
  • Non-contact magnetic sensors are discrete switches that use a reed switch and magnet to determine the position of doors, levers, valves and other moving devices relative to that of the Q45. 
  • Remote discrete input nodes are now available in models with a multicolor LED indicator and a quick disconnect at the base of the device. 
  • One-button push buttons are now available in models with a user-configurable multicolor LED indicator.

The 6500 is an innovative automatic system delivering all the features you need for reliable, safe, hazardous location protection in a small, streamlined solution. Engineered for simple and functional safety operation, the Bebco EPS 6500 Series Ex pxb/pyb purge and pressurization system sets a new standard for SIL 2 global certified purge solutions. 

All Certifications Are Not Equal 

Unlike other solutions available today with claims of SIL-rated products, the 6500 SIL 2 approval certifies the entire system. Its hardware and firmware are all SIL 2 certified. This includes the electrical power control unit, user interface, and EPV-6500 vents. 

Existing 6500 Systems 

The current version of the 6500 will be obsoleted, and the 6500 SIL-rated version will be its direct replacement. Only the part numbers will change. The model numbers will remain the same for OEMs that have this listed with their system.  
  • The SIL 2 certification is not backwards compatible with the installed units.
  • The functionality of the SIL-rated version is no different than the non-SIL units. It will be a direct drop-in replacement for existing customers.
  • There is no price increase for the SIL-rated 6500.
  • The SIL manual for the 6500 will be available on the Pepperl+Fuchs website and will be shipped with every unit.
  • Stock of SIL-rated 6500 units will be available in about 3 weeks.
  • On-demand training materials will also be available in a few weeks.
