Carlo Gavazzi Capacitive Proximity Sensors

CARLO GAVAZZI is proud to announce the launch of the new CD34 Series liquid level capacitive sensors. The CD34 Series is designed to detect water-based liquids through non-metallic walls, i.e. plastic or glass. The sensors automatically account for the thickness of plastic or glass walls and compensate for any residual films, moisture or foam accumulation while reliably sensing the presence of the liquid to be detected. The sensor is packed with a universal bracket, which provides great mounting versatility for a variety of surfaces, circular (e.g. sight glass, round containers) or flat. 

The CD34 works out of the box for most applications, as it’s capable of detecting the media (liquid) with a conductivity of 50mS/cm. For the most demanding applications, the CD34 offers teach-in capabilities, which assists in solving the most challenging level applications. Through the teach-in function, the sensor can be calibrated to overcome highly conductive, viscous liquids or tanks with very thin or thick walls. 

What’s more, the compact and robust sensor housing with NEMA250 (1, 2, 4, 4x, 5 and 12), IP69K ratings and ECOLAB certification make it very suitable for wash-down applications and harsh environments typically found in the food and beverage industry or applications that are exposed to wind and weather.

Turck Compact Ultrasonic Sensors with IO-Link Technology

To further diversify our ultrasonic sensor portfolio, Turck has released a compact ultrasonic sensor with IO-Link technology. The cost-effective design of this sensor still offers the advantages of a standard ultrasonic sensor as well as communication and advanced functions via IO-Link (Version 1.1). 

The new device can be taught as a standard sensor via teach-by-wire or programmed and used via IO-Link. Advanced functions such as synchronization allows multiple sensors to be synchronized together without the risk of interfering with each other. When used in this mode, all sensors will transmit and receive information together, which increases the coverage area and provides a single output from multiple sensors. 

Additionally, multiplexing mode allows several sensors to be mounted close together without interference while providing individual outputs. 

These sensors are offered in front and side sensing models, rated to IP67, and available with M18 threaded barrel housings and M12x1 Eurofast connectors.

Harting Slim HPR EasyCon Connectors

HARTING, a leading supplier of connectivity solutions for the rail industry, has expanded its rugged Han® HPR connector series for harsh environments with more options to help manufacturers of rolling stock assemble the increasingly complex electrical systems of modern equipment. The new Han® HPR 22 Slim connector can accommodate up to four 250A contacts, yet its flat profile is ideal for height-restricted spaces like the underside of a rail car and its ultra-slim profile leaves room in wiring pathways for other critical systems. Its design was optimized in conjunction with a Viennese customer that needed a connector to fit a roughly eight centimeter gap between a tram body and bogie.

HARTING also has added new sizes 16 and 34 to the Han® HPR EasyCon line that was launched originally with size 24. EasyCon stands for easy to connect. The two-part hood and mounting housing is ready to be screwed together in a few quick, simple steps, with ample space inside for cables for car-to-car or motor connections, making it easier on installers working right on the equipment.

The dimensionally optimized EasyCon connectors also offer more high current carrying capacity and configuration possibilities than standard Han® HPR interfaces. The size 16 can house 2-4 high current contacts (up to 2 x 650A), suitable for connecting compressors, single wheel drives, and ventilation systems. It also can be configured as a hybrid with power, signal or data modules from HARTING’s Han-Modular® lineup, with over 100 inserts to choose from. The size 34 comes in a straight version for traction motor connections and angled version for car-to-car jumper connections. They can accommodate up to four 650A contacts each and as a hybrid can house up to 12 Han-Modular® inserts.

HARTING’s new M12 INOX connectors are made of high grade stainless steel to provide superior corrosion resistance in harsh environments, indoor or outdoor. M12 connectivity is standardized and reliable, widely used in industries like transportation, factory automation and robotics. M12 connectors stand up well in most applications, even outdoors, but when the operating environment is especially harsh – for example, extreme salt spray or mist – a stainless steel connector like the IP 65/67-rated M12 INOX is required.

Today’s connectors for such environments are expected to feature adequate encapsulation against salt spray and mist, which in turn requires more resistant materials. HARTING tested especially durable materials in developing the M12 INOX. It settled on superior V4A grade stainless steel rather the widely used V2A grade, and adapted its manufacturing processes to suit the raw material. The connectors are made with V4A that’s free of flaws to ensure that the connectors meet the IEC 60068-2-52 severity 4 standard.

The M12 INOX is designed for an ambient temperature range of -40oC to +85oC, and up to 500 mating cycles, rated for up to 4A and 250V with crimp termination. HARAX termination (IDC technology) also is supported. The M12 INOX is available in A (5 pole male), B (5 pole male and female) and D codes.

Schneider Electric Detached Servo Drives Lexium 62 ILD

Schneider Electric's Lexium 62 ILD detached servo drives complies with the IP 65 degree of protection. The drives can be controlled with all PacDrive LMC motion controllers of the Pro and Eco series via Sercos communication. All main components of the system are equipped with electronic name plates, so the controller recognizes the drives and configures them automatically.

SoMachine tools are the base for engineering, commissioning and diagnosis of Lexium 62 ILD servo applications.

Two types of detaches are available:

Schneider's new features for the PM8000 meter include low voltage control power capabilities as well as enhanced cybersecurity and web pages. The PowerLogic PM8000 series delivers superior revenue accuracy, and power quality compliance and analysis ideal for industrial and critical power facilities.

  • Improved cybersecurity: New features include strong password implementation and the ability to enable/disable any communication port. The PM8000 will log cybersecurity related events such as successful and unsuccessful log-in attempts, configuration changes, and resets along with date/time stamps in its event log. Data is then pushed to a network server from the meter using Syslog protocol, which enables IT managers to consolidate event information from across their entire network to better manage network availability and identify potential threats. This capability is essential for enabling NERC/CIP monitoring compliance.
  • Web page waveform data: Fully customizable web pages that show meter data will now display waveforms. All three phases for voltage and current can be viewed in any combination, with the ability to zoom in or out on the entire waveform. Access power quality data, including captured waveforms, in the meter’s web interface without the need for additional software
  • Expanded logging capability: With ~350MB of memory, each individual log is capable of logging up to 10MB allowing more data to be captured over a longer period of time or more frequently.
  • DHCP for IPv6: As facilities and campuses implement more Ethernet connected devices, the limited number of available IPv4 addresses are being quickly consumed. IPv6 provides a much larger address space and is now being utilized by governments, telecommunications, data centers and other critical power facilities. It also provides better end-to-end connectivity, faster routing, automatic device discovery and improved security.

Engineered on a compact, modular and flexible platform, the PowerLogic PM8000 series meters have the versatility to perform nearly any metering job at key points throughout a facility. Available in panel-mount and DIN rail-mount form factors with high-visibility color displays, the meters are additionally compliant with ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2, IEC 62053-22 Class 0.2S (real energy), and IEC 61557-12. This accuracy combined with the meter’s extensive I/O options makes the PM8000 series meters ideal for unified metering of all WAGES (water, air, gas, electricity, and steam) utilities.

Carlo Gavazzi New DUB72 Series

CARLO GAVAZZI is proud to announce the launch of DUB72, a double under voltage monitoring relay that is approved for use in Class I Division 2 hazardous locations. This relay can be used to help prevent brownouts in 24 VDC supplied systems in any kind of application, including hazardous environments.

The DUB72 features two independent set levels and outputs, which allow the use of one as a pre-alarm and the second one as an alarm. With a high powered electromechanical 20 amp relay, the second threshold / relay can be used to directly disconnect a battery or load. Its low-profile DIN housing can fit into electrical distribution panels as well as into industrial cabinets.

The Class I Div. 2 compliance, according to the ISA12.12.1 Norm, makes the DUB72 suitable for installation in potentially explosive environments rated Zone 2. The PCB tropicalization increases operational reliability in humid and dusty environments.

The DUB72 from Carlo Gavazzi provides crucial monitoring of low voltage/brownout conditions, to protect sensitive electronic equipment. DUB72 conforms to global standards such as UL 508, CSA C22.2 and EN 60947-5-1, as well as ANSI/ISA 12.12.01-2010 for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. Turck Introduces Backplane Ethernet Extension Protocol (BEEP)

Turck introduces BEEP, the Backplane Ethernet Extension Protocol. BEEP is a new technology that has been integrated into many of their multiprotocol digital block I/O modules.

BEEP allows a network of up to 33 devices (1 Master + 32 Slaves) or 480 bytes of data to appear to the PLC as a single device on a single connection using a single IP address. By reducing the number of connections the PLC sees, you will be able to create high density I/O networks and still utilize their low cost PLC.

This technology is utilized by making the first device in the line a BEEP master, which can be done via the device webserver. The BEEP master can then scan the entire network and create a new data map that includes all of the downstream devices, with all device configuration options saved in the master.

BEEP also supports drop-in device replacement, reducing downtime and overall expenses. If the network is setup using BEEP, a technician can simply replace a slave device with a new device to keep the system online. The BEEP master will automatically recognize the device, assign it an IP address, and download the parameters to it.

Pizzato Buzzer EROUND Line

Pizzato's EROUND line of signaling and control devices widens its range with the monolithic buzzer series E6.

The buzzer features a high sound intensity that makes a clearly audible signal both from a distance or in very noisy places and it can be purchased in continuous or pulsed sound versions.

Designed to be used in hard environmental conditions, its lens is available with or without holes. The version without holes has an IP67 protection rating.

The compact shape of the buzzer incorporates all the components necessary for operation. The wiring is now fast and intuitive by the use of screw clamps without needing any further part.

Phoenix Contact IFC DIN Rail Mounting Frame

Phoenix Contact knows how much you love HEAVYCON, so instead of exiling it to the outside of a cabinet, they now offer a new way to connect your HEAVYCON inserts inside, mounted to a DIN rail. The system includes a versatile base-frame assembly that mounts on a standard NS 35/7.5 DIN rail. That base then incorporates four different settings depending on whether you are using inserts designed for B06, B10, B16, or B24 housings. For mating, they offer four different matching top frames that lock onto the base frame. Each different size also includes a tongue to fasten down the wires with cable ties for strain relief. 

While the standard top and base frames are set up to handle the array of B-series fixed inserts, as well as their full line of modular inserts with carrier frames, they also offer several adapters. If you need to use D-series inserts (A10, A16, D15, and D25 inserts), there is a mounting bracket that brings the mounting legs in line with those narrow inserts. 

In addition to opening up the insert options, if you would like to forego the standard top frame, you can use their popular EVO B-series plastic housings. They offer snap-on interlock pieces that attach to the pegs for double locking latches, allowing the EVO plug housing to be secured to the base frame. They even offer a special EVO adapter that’s open with a tongue for fastening down the wires with cable ties. 

If plastic isn’t going to cut it though, they do provide an aluminum version for B10, B16, and B24 inserts. These come with dual-locking latches as well as screw locking. They even offer a solution for B06 inserts as a long, double B06 frame set.
