IDEC XA Unibody Compact E-Stops

IDEC XA (16mm) series of emergency stop switches are now available in a new compact unibody with only 19.5mm depth behind the panel, saving valuable space, while providing unparalleled safety. Available in 29mm and 40mm mushroom operators, these E-stops are easy-to-spot in either red, yellow or gray.

16mm XA and 22mm XW E-stop switches are now available with engraved EMO markings. When used in combination with switch guards, these E-stops comply with SEMI S2 standards, while only being 27.9mm behind the panel (XA series) with up to four contacts.

In today’s automated world, more customers are requiring E-Stop switches with at least three contacts. (two of the contacts trip the power and the third contact is used to alert a safety-monitoring relay.) XA E-stops offer up to four “safe-break” contacts with a depth behind the panel that is less than half of a conventional E-Stop switch.

IDEC’s E-Stop switches are secured from the rear of the control panel, so the buttons cannot be removed from the front. Another feature of the XA and XW E-stops, push-to-lock and pull- or turn-to-reset, eliminates any possible confusion for operators when resetting the switch. XA Unibody E-stops are available in 1NC and 2NC contact configurations are available, as are solder terminals in standard size or #110 terminals with gold-plated crossbar contacts.

The XA and XW (with removable contact blocks) series incorporate an innovative “safe break action” concept. This unique, revolutionary design uses the spring-pressure to assure that the NC contacts will open if the emergency switch is damaged or the contact blocks break off due to excessive force.

XA Emergency Stops are UL/c-UL, TUV and CE recognized, as well as IP65 and IP40 rated, and CCC certified (except Unibody style). XW E-stops are UL, c-UL listed, TUV recognized and EN compliant, as well as CCC certified. In addition, an optional accessory is available to customers, which when mounted makes the contacts fingersafe.

IDEC E-Stop Stations Now with More Options

IDEC emergency stop stations now give customers more choices. IDEC enclosures coupled with IDEC HW and XW emergency stop switches are a perfect match.

IDEC E-stop stations offer a variety of contact configurations (up to 4NC contacts); 29, 40 or 60mm mushroom heads; metal or plastic bezels; illuminated (24V AC/DC) or non-illuminated versions; and spring-up terminals (HW series) or standard terminals (XW series).

These E-stop stations offer customers a choice between Push-lock turn, Push-pull and Push-lock key reset operations. Push-lock turn reset E-Stop stations are also available with an EMO marking. Plus, the bright yellow enclosures enhance visibility, ensuring they can be easily located in case of emergency.

A polycarbonate enclosure and stainless steel screws make these enclosures corrosion resistant and durable over a long life. Plus, all E-stop stations are IP65 and NEMA Type 4X rated, making them suitable for dusty and humid environments. IDEC E-stop stations are ideal for use in industries such as material handling, food, semiconductor, HVAC and more.

Pepperl+Fuchs Safety at Work Emergency Stop Safety Switches

Field-mount and panel-mount versions provide significantly simplified installation, enhanced operation in AS-Interface networked applications

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces a new family of Emergency Stop (e-stop) Switches with integrated Safety at Work (SaW) functionality.  These intelligent e-stop switches are powered by the AS-Interface network and offer fast, error-free installation in field or panel-mount applications.  Field and panel-mount models are available in high intensity, wide angle illuminated versions, as well as non-illuminated versions, to suit any e-stop application requirement.

“Illuminated models are lit with a high intensity LED to eliminate the need for auxiliary power, while reducing the number of required leads to two.  By reducing the number of leads it may be possible for users to operate their AS-Interface system solely on the networks popular flat yellow cable,” says Helge Hornis, PhD, Intelligent Systems Manager for Pepperl+Fuchs.  “For added flexibility, the LED is not activated by the button but is controlled by a PLC, which allows users to solve even the most unusual applications,” he says.  Non-illuminate e-stops provide safe operation at a lower price point than illuminated models.

The field-mountable versions eliminate all wiring to save time and eliminate the possibility of incorrectly wiring the e-stop switch, and feature an M12 connector that works in conjunction with Pepperl+Fuchs’ popular flat-to-round cable adapters to reduce installation time to less than 60 seconds.

Panel-mount versions include connection cable that is quickly cut to length, and easily connects to the AS-Interface network using Pepperl+Fuchs’ flat cable-to-terminal adapter, or the terminals of other nearby enclosure-mount modules.  Additionally, the AS-Interface node is an integral part of the panel-mount e-stop switch so only the e-stop  itself needs to be mounted.

“Most safety buttons use either a twist or a pull release, and both are effective so long they meet the users preferred mode of operation.  Pepperl+Fuchs’ new family of Safety at Work e-stop switches support both methods so whatever the preference, operators will feel right at home,” says Dr. Hornis.
