Littelfuse SIDACtor Protection Thyristors

A new series of SIDACtor® Protection Thyristors in surface-mount DO-214AB packages from Littelfuse are designed to protect low-data-rate interfaces and outdoor data interfaces in general industrial applications.

The Pxxx0S3NLRP Series provides robust surge protection performance at up to 2.5kA, while maintaining much lower switching threshold (VS) and on-state voltage (VT) than traditional protection solutions like Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) technology. They also offer crowbarring power fault protection superior to the typical clamping device. Applications include protection for general industrial outdoor data interfaces, such as short loop interfaces (<10m) located at base station sites, and low-data-rate interfaces such as RS-232 or RS-423.

  • Robust surge protection performance at up to 2.5kA while maintaining low switching threshold (VS) and on-state voltage (VT)
  • Component properties do not degrade after multiple surge events within its rated limits
  • Certified, environmentally friendly and suitable for worldwide usage
  • Offers crowbarring power fault protection superior to that of the typical clamping device
  • High surge protection and high-performance design extend equipment lifetime
  • Helps line drivers comply with global standards

Turck Minifast HD Hazardous Location Cordsets

Turck has released an expansion to its Minifast offering to provide a more robust solution than currently is available on the market. The new Turck Minifast HD cordset offering also carries hazardous location approvals and is the first of its kind to offer an ATEX approved connector in a complete cable assembled package. Additionally, this product offering includes mating ATEX approved receptacles, junction boxes and lockfast guards. The new offering is an ideal solution for a variety of applications including gas turbines, skids, compressors, and shipboard applications.

While previous ATEX connector solutions typically come as complex and expensive field wireables, the Minifast HD offering provides the convenience and reliability of a full connector assembly at a much lower cost than current solutions. Additionally, these products utilize our Extremelife-60 cables with FT4 and IEC 60332-3-22 flame compliance to provide the ultimate solution for extreme applications.

“We heard from many of our process automation customers that were looking for a more reliable and cost-effective ATEX approved solution as it is becoming more and more of a demand for them,” said Jay Bartsias, Senior Product Manager for Connectivity. “Also, thanks to the connector’s fully potted metal body and its ability to bond with many different cable types, we can see potential for this solution to be used in a variety of applications.”

The Turck Minifast HD solution carries an ATEX Ex nA Category 3 approval as well as a US AEx nA Zone 2 approval. The Minifast HD offering also carries NEMA 1, 3, 4, and 6P and is IEC IP67 and IP68 rated.

  • Provides ATEX approved connector in a complete cable assembled package
  • Ideal solution for applications such as gas turbines, skids, compressors, and shipboards
  • Full metal body and full potting with ability to bond with many different cable types
  • Utilizes Extremelife-60 cables with FT4 and IEC 60332-3-22 flame compliance
  • ATEX Ex nA Category 3 approval
  • US AEx nA Zone 2 approval
  • NEMA 1, 3, 4, and 6P and is IEC IP67 and IP68 rated

E-T-A ESR10 Micro Solid State Relays

E-T-A announces their new ESR10 Micro ISO solid state relays for 12VDC and 24VDC vehicle applications.  The ESR10 is appropriate in applications where a standard electro-mechanical relay is not a viable option, such as:
  • High frequency switching requirements
  • Low drive signals from the APC or controller
  • Silent switching requirements
  • Applications where PWM (pulse width modulation) is used
The ESR10 Micro relays can easily replace an electro-mechanical relay because polarity of the control input does not matter. The solid state relays are suitable for switching resistive, inductive and capacitive or lamp loads. Unlike electro-mechanical relays they offer frequency control as an option.

  • Silent: Solid state technology eliminates in-vehicle switching noise
  • Fast: PWM compatible high frequency electronic switching
  • Durable: Wear-free design, with no mechanical parts, resistant to vibration and dust
  • Efficient: Requires a fraction of the control power required by standard electro-mechanical relays.

Honeywell Sensing & Control RSC Series Board-Mount Pressure Sensors

Honeywell is pleased to introduce its TruStability™ Board Mount Pressure Sensors, RSC Series, a high-end, high-value addition to its TruStability™ portfolio. The RSC Series is designed for applications that require higher performance than existing TruStability™ products. When compared to Honeywell’s existing TruStability™ sensors, the RSC Series provides greater than 18 bits of real resolution and a Total Error Band that is four times tighter while utilizing the same small, stable package. The Series is a more cost-effective than premium laboratory grade devices.

The RSC Series integrates proven sense element technology and stable packaging used in the TruStability™ platform with Honeywell’s innovative 24-bit analog to digital converter. Rather than having one-size-fits-all internal math, compensation co-efficients are stored in internal EEPROM, so you can customize compensation for specific applications.

  • Pressure range: ±1.6 mbar to ±10 bar | ±160 Pa to ±1 MPa | ±0.5 inH2O to 150 psi; absolute 1 bar to 8 bar | 15 psi to 150 psi

    • Absolute: internal vacuum reference and output value proportional to absolute pressure
    • Gage: referenced to atmospheric pressure and provides output proportional to pressure variations from atmosphere
    • Differential: allows measurement of pressure between two pressure ports
  • Total Error Band: As low as 0.25%FSS
  • Accuracy ±0.1 %FSS BFSL (Full Scale Span Best Fit Straight Line)
  • Compensated temperature range: 0 to 50ºC [32 to 122ºF], -20 to +85ºC [-4 to +185ºF], -40 to +70ºC [-40 to +158ºF], -40 to +85ºC [-40 to +185ºF]
