Banner Engineering EZ-LIGHT K50 Rotating and Strobing Beacon

Banner Engineering has added a rotating and strobing beacon to their existing EZ-LIGHT® K50 Beacon family.  The rotating and strobing function of this indicator was developed for areas where a bright, attention-getting signal is needed that is viewable from all directions.

K50s are intended for indoor and outdoor general status indication including areas with high levels of ambient light where a standard indicator light would go unnoticed.

Features

  • Intense levels of light output for areas with high ambient light – even outdoors
  • Light viewable around the entire perimeter
  • Strobing models also emit light from top
  • Attention getting signal is viewable from all directions
  • Rotating Models: Three functions available – Solid ON and two rotating speeds
  • Strobing Models: Three functions available – Solid ON, single strobe, and double strobe
  • 12 to 30V dc operation - 12V dc operation is useful for applications on mobile vehicles
  • Rugged, sealed thermoplastic housing rated for IP67 and IP69K

80/20 Routing Services for Thick Plastic Panels

80/20's routing service has been expanded to include 3/8" or 1/2" thick plastic panels so that they can be mounted in the T-slot with a rubber gasket.  The method used to calculate plastic panel dimensions mounted in the T-slot of a frame does not change.

Other panel services can be used on these thicker panels, however, longer mounting screws may be needed for certain panel and door components.

New Pepperl+Fuchs ML4.2 Subminiature Photoelectric Sensor Models

Pepperl+Fuchs has expanded its family of ML4.2 Series Subminiature Photoelectric Sensors. A number of new models are available to help maximize machine productivity by delivering faster response times, multibeam redundant detection, independent outputs and zero deadband sensing, among other significant benefits.

“New ML4.2 high speed models offer 250 µs response time, which is twice as fast as standard ML4.2 models. For users this means less wasted material for converting applications, higher resolution for trigger applications and improved switching precision,” says Jeff Allison, Product Manager, Pepperl+Fuchs.

ML4.2 dual sensor redundant detection models feature dual light beams from two emitter LEDs that reflect light to two receivers. These beams act as a logic “OR” so that either beam can switch the output. Having a redundant light beam enables transparent or glossy objects that are foil or plastic-wrapped to be much more reliably sensed when compared with single beam sensing.

An ML4.2 model with dual sensor redundant detection and independent outputs features dual beams from two emitter LEDs that reflect light to two receivers, where two independent outputs indicate the state of each separate beam. “This model provides an affordable means of aligning or guiding translucent paper, plastic and fabric webs, as it serves as two sensors in one package. When the web is properly positioned, one beam detects the web while the other beam does not. This sensor can also be used to detect a gap between two objects to suppress the detection of small particles such as paper dust. Other potential applications include semiconductor and PCB positioning for conveying and buffering,” explains Allison.

Two precise sensing models are also now available to deliver the sharpest sensing distance cut-off and smallest switching hysteresis on the market for background suppression sensors. The first model is available with a visible red emitter, and senses black and white color extremes within an extremely tight sensing window. A black test object is sensed up to 20 mm from the sensor, a white test object is sensed up to 21 mm away and no targets are detected at or beyond 22 mm. In contrast, a standard version ML4.2 sensor enables background suppression at 25 mm from the sensor. A second model senses black to 40 mm, white to 43 mm and no objects at or beyond 43 mm.

“This level of precision is significant for users with objects that need to be detected just one to three millimeters in front of the background, such as detecting a piece of cardstock on a belt, or the angle or straightness of paper in a feeder,” says Allison.

A new ML4.2 series retroreflective sensing model with no sensing deadband is used with a corner-cube reflector and is polarized so that shiny objects will not be erroneously seen as the reflector. An innovative single optical axis design eliminates sensing deadband. A second model also includes an output that monitors signal strength.

“These sensors are perfect for applications that require more signal strength than is available with background suppression sensors, and sense at either very close or long sensing distances. They can be used when rigid reflectors or even reflective tape must be detected up to the sensor face, as a standard retroreflective mode sensor would typically not see reflective tape unless it were two to four inches from the sensor. They are also well suited for detecting objects such as solar cell wafers and packaged tubes or cartons where precise and repeatable leading edge detection is a must,” explains Allison.

Lastly, new ML4.2 series thru-beam sensors deliver maximum signal strength in situations where retroreflective and background suppression models do not have sufficient optical power. They feature an optical alignment aid to indicate marginal signal strength, a status LED to indicate if small objects are not detected at high speeds, and quadruple the speed of previous generation thru-beam sensors. They are ideally suited for applications with sensing distances up to at least 8 meters, and in dirtier environments.

All non-thru-beam ML4.2 series sensors feature integrated crosstalk immunity to eliminate concern for side-by-side mounting, a tamperproof design with no external adjustments, 4-in-1 output to reduce inventory requirements and wiring hassles, and superior immunity to ambient light even for high frequency energy-saving lights. They also feature diagnostic LEDs in the front and back of the housing for quick and easy status indication, an antistatic and scratch-resistant glass lens ideal for printing and paper environments, and metal reinforced mounting holes that provide robust operation in demanding industrial applications.

Phoenix Contact White and Blue Wire Duct

The newest additions to Phoenix Contact's wire duct product line are their white and blue wire duct.

Certain applications, such as the biotech, oil & gas, food industries and Intrinsically Safe environments, will require the use of white or blue wire duct. For example, the food industry prefers the white wire duct, as it exemplifies their cleanliness.

The white or blue wire ducts have the same key features as Phoenix Contact's standard wire duct, including the easy-on/easy-off wire duct cover, a single part number for both the duct and cover and two score lines for easily breaking the duct fingers and walls. The white or blue wire ducts are available in the same height, width sizes and 2 m lengths as their standard wire duct. The PVC material has a V0 inflammability rating as per UL 94.
