Stahlin Enclosures New Expanded J Non-Metallic Enclosure

The Stahlin J Series product line was designed as an industrial enclosure for harsh, aggressive environments.

Originally developed as an electrical junction box for the oil refining and petrochem industries, the J series has evolved into a versatile industrial enclosure line. It’s now available in 18 sizes with varied applications for use from high-end electronics to extreme corrosive applications both indoors and out; currently servicing all industrial applications.

With over six decades of proven performance the rugged design combined with tough, durable materials, for extreme reliability in tough environments are key attributes of this series.

Now, with two new sizes in our most popular configuration – hinged lockable pull latch (HPL) – the Stahlin J Series is bigger, better, and offers you more space for maximum protection.

Robroy Industries / Stahlin PolyStar Polycarbonate Enclosures

Made in the U.S.A., PolyStar™ NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosures by Stahlin can withstand rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, hose directed water --- and provide superior impact and flame protection.

PolyStar™ Enclosures are intended to be utilized for outdoor and indoor applications. The polycarbonate contained in the PolyStar™ Series, as well as the enclosure, have passed UL tests for suitability. The polycarbonate resin in the PolyStar™ Series received the best rating, an "F1" per UL 746C. This means that the resin has passed tests for UV exposure and water immersion. The PolyStar™ Series enclosures are rated 3R, 4, 4X, 12 per UL 50 and IP66 per IEC 60529. This means that the enclosure provides protection against ingress (of rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water), impact, and flame protection. The material rating and the product rating can assure the user that the PolyStar™ Series enclosures are suitable for outdoor use and exposure.

PolyStar™ Series enclosures are manufactured with polycarbonate designed to perform in cold weather applications. In general, the product performance will not be adversely affected until temperatures below -40°F are realized. At temperatures below this level, stress, tension, and pressure could start to impact the enclosure's reliability. This includes the latching, opening and/or incidental impacts. In the absence of these potential threats, the enclosures should remain unaffected by the low temperatures.

Features
  • 5 Standard Sizes: 8x6x4, 10x8x4, 12x10x6, 14x12x6 and 16x14x8
  • Latches and Hinges Do Not Penetrate Enclosure
  • Easy to Remove Lid
  • High Performance Inserts
  • Integrated Lock Hasp
  • Flush-Fit Side Mount Swing Panel and DIN Rail System
  • Molded in Bosses
  • Multi-Directional Mounting Feet
  • Rated Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12
  • Rated IEC 66
  • UL/cUL Approved

Stahlin Enclosures Achieves UL 1741 Certification

Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures have achieved UL recognized component status as certified within the category of Distributed Generation Power Systems Accessory Equipment.

Stahlin enclosures were evaluated under the UL1741 standard for inverter, converter, controllers and interconnection systems equipment for "Use With Distributed Energy Resources" within the United States. Stahlin enclosures were also evaluated under the CSA-C22.2 No. 107.1 "Standard for General Use Power Supplies," for use in Canada. Stahlin is currently the only enclosure manufacturer to achieve this certification.

UL File number: E333478 denotes Stahlin enclosures as a photovoltaic combiner box component and recognizes the required achievements obtained under prior UL 746C, Polymeric Materials "Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations" for outstanding UL94-5V flammability rating. UL94-5V is a standard that not all current enclosure products have attained, especially in tandem with NEMA 6 or 6P type ratings established under UL-50, Enclosures for Electrical Equipment.

Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures at Abita Brewing

A case study on how Stahlin non-metallic enclosures are used at the Abita Brewing plant in New Orleans.

In an environment constantly exposed to liquids, gases and acids, corrosion was prominent on all metal enclosures and needed to be replaced constantly. Stahlin's fiberglass enclosures are not only lighter and easier to modify, but are immune to corrosion, eliminating replacement costs and downtime.
