Harting Slim HPR EasyCon Connectors
HARTING, a leading supplier of connectivity solutions for the rail industry, has expanded its rugged Han® HPR connector series for harsh environments with more options to help manufacturers of rolling stock assemble the increasingly complex electrical systems of modern equipment. The new Han® HPR 22 Slim connector can accommodate up to four 250A contacts, yet its flat profile is ideal for height-restricted spaces like the underside of a rail car and its ultra-slim profile leaves room in wiring pathways for other critical systems. Its design was optimized in conjunction with a Viennese customer that needed a connector to fit a roughly eight centimeter gap between a tram body and bogie.
HARTING also has added new sizes 16 and 34 to the Han® HPR EasyCon line that was launched originally with size 24. EasyCon stands for easy to connect. The two-part hood and mounting housing is ready to be screwed together in a few quick, simple steps, with ample space inside for cables for car-to-car or motor connections, making it easier on installers working right on the equipment.
The dimensionally optimized EasyCon connectors also offer more high current carrying capacity and configuration possibilities than standard Han® HPR interfaces. The size 16 can house 2-4 high current contacts (up to 2 x 650A), suitable for connecting compressors, single wheel drives, and ventilation systems. It also can be configured as a hybrid with power, signal or data modules from HARTING’s Han-Modular® lineup, with over 100 inserts to choose from. The size 34 comes in a straight version for traction motor connections and angled version for car-to-car jumper connections. Harting Han-Modular Twin w/ Angular Housing
With its new angular housing, HARTING’s Han-Modular® Twin provides users with a particularly compact and customizable connector solution that’s ideal for applications like motor connection, especially for larger motors up to 70A. The Han-Modular® Twin has the appearance of a small format IP65 connector. Fitted at a right angle to the motor, the 39x44mm angular housing takes the place of the terminal box, making for a very user-friendly connection. The hood is in two parts – an upper part with the cable inlet and the carrier housing underneath. This design feature makes it easier to fit the inserts into the hood and the cable can be fitted faster and more securely.
The Han-Modular® Twin is designed to hold two modules from the extensive Han-Modular® lineup, so it can be configured as a power-only connector or as a hybrid with a power insert and either a signal or data insert. A hybrid configuration makes an excellent connection option for servo motors in combination with two circular connectors. Such a hybrid might include a 4x40 A power module and a second module for 25 signal or data contacts. In servo motor connection, the plug and play Han-Modular® Twin makes motor changes quicker if you have a faulty drive – which can minimize production downtime.

HARTING Han® IP67 Bulkhead Housing
HARTING’s new Han® B IP67 bulkhead mounted housings offer a compelling alternative to IP65 rated connectors.
Ideal for applications in extreme conditions like wind turbines, construction cranes, railway, and marine installations.
The Han® IP67 Housing, as the name implies, provides IP66 and IP67 protection, and does it for virtually the same price as a comparable IP65 rated connector. As a practical example of the difference, in the locked state, the Han® IP67 housing’s protection allows for:
- Temporary, full immersion in water, as compared with the IP 65 rated housing which is only hose proof.
- Special flange protects the gasket seal, preventing water from penetrating the connector.
- Circumferential collar also prevents the seal from sliding inwards or outwards; seal stability provides additional protection against water ingress.
- Proven Han-Easy Lock® locking system for high contact pressure.
The Han® B IP67 bulkhead housing is compatible with all standard Han® hoods and housings, and can be configured with any Han® insert or module, including the over 50 inserts in the Han-Modular® series. It comes in sizes 6B, 10B, 16B and 24B that fit the same standard cut-out dimensions for the existing Han® housing portfolio. The IP67 housing is ideal for applications in extreme conditions like wind turbines, construction cranes, railway and marine installations. However, HARTING also recommends it for many other applications. Since the cost difference between the Han® IP67 and comparable IP65 bulkhead housings is minimal or non-existent, there is no downside in having more protection than the situation calls for rather than too little.

Harting Han High Temp Connectors
HARTING’s new Han® High Temp connectors are designed to circumvent the limitations of deploying connectors in hot manufacturing applications up to 200ºC like mold machines and casting equipment. Conventional connector solutions involve locating the connectors well away from high temp areas of the machinery, requiring additional cabling. The Han® High Temp can be located right at the machine, saving on cabling and potentially simplifying machine design and wiring. The connector can be mated and unmated at temperatures up to 200ºC due to a special non-adhesive seal HARTING implemented in the connector.
The Han® High Temp is based on the well-established Han® B and Han® E series, using the same panel cutout dimensions. The aluminum die-cast hoods and housings feature a highly compressed surface with excellent non-stick properties, allowing the connector to be unmated without the gasket sticking. The Han® High Temp series features very rugged inserts made of injection-molded, liquid crystal polymer plastic (LCP) that deliver outstanding temperature resistance coupled with excellent mechanical stability. New temperature-resistant contacts (crimp or screw termination) ensure reliable connections with minimal contact resistance even at extreme temperatures.

Harting HaVIS LOCFIELD RFID Antenna
HARTING’s new game-changing Ha-VIS LOCFIELD® travelling wave UHF antenna makes it possible to create a passive RFID reading zone with a single antenna for applications like smart shelving systems, wireless sensor networks, door and window pass-throughs and tool identification processes in machines. It overcomes the challenges in trying to create a viable, large transponder reading zone the conventional way, which typically involves using multiple patch antennas with their fixed radiation patterns.
LOCFIELD® stands for LOCalized FIELD. The antenna generates a localized electromagnetic field along the contour of the antenna cable. A single Ha-VIS LOCFIELD® coax cable, which comes in standard lengths of up to three metres or custom lengths up to 10 metres, becomes the antenna itself when connected to a high-power RFID reader. Two such antennas can be plugged into a dual port reader creating a reading zone up to 20 metres in almost any shape desired. The cable can be adapted to the layout or contours of any building, door, vehicle or machine interior or warehouse racking system, making it suitable for warehousing and logistics, transportation, as well as applications in the processing and manufacturing sectors. The LOCFIELD read range on FCC frequencies 902-928 MHz can extend from a few centimetres to over two meters, depending on the power of the RFID reader. This outstanding product, the first of its type, has been extensively field-tested by large systems integrators in North America, Europe, and Asia, with excellent results. Many of these customers are finding that the LOCFIELD® concept allows them to think of new opportunities to exploit the full potential of RFID tracking technology.

HARTING High-Density Monoblock Inserts
The new Han-Eco® monoblock E inserts with screw termination, like the existing Han-Yellock® monoblocks, are designed as snap-in modules for fast, tool-free assembly. Han-Eco® monoblocks use the same Han® E contacts with wire protection that have already proven themselves in millions of applications, yet offer up to 67% more contact density than Han® E inserts. The monoblocks have a rated voltage of 500V and current of 16A and feature a pre-leading PE contact (ground). This results in contact numbers of 10, 14, 20 and 28 plus PE for the four Han-Eco® housing sizes respectively. These monoblocks can be combined with modules from the Han-Modular® series in any Han-Eco® housing to mix transmission media. For their part, Han-Yellock® monoblocks offer 25 or 48 contacts with crimp termination for housing sizes 30 and 60 respectively.
Han-Eco® connectors are made of glass-fiber reinforced high-performance plastics. This product has quickly established itself on the market in the last two years as a lower weight, economical and extremely reliable and durable alternative to metal connectors, ideal as an OEM part or aftermarket replacement. The rugged plastic housings are highly resistant to environmental influences; when locked, Han-Eco® achieves protection class IP65. This, in turn, has led to its speedy adoption for use with machinery of all kinds, conveyor systems, broadcast equipment, and throughout the rail, marine and offshore wind power sectors. For its part, the award-winning, die-cast zinc Han-Yellock® is distinguished by unrivalled innovations like its patented internal locking mechanism that works like a seat belt, for fast locking and push-button release.
