Turck analog+ Sensors that can Differentiate Between Metals

TURCK has enhanced the functionality of its analog+ proximity sensors to differentiate between the types of metal being detected—independent of the distance from the sensor.

Available in ring and flat housings that can provide up to 11 mm of sensing range, these sensors function well in stamping, die cutting and metal sorting applications where different metal types are frequently found.

The analog+ material detection sensors use inductive coils whose RF fields are influenced differently for each metal type. The signal difference is then converted into a 0 to 10 VDC analog signal to signify which type of metal is being detected. Additionally, a wide operating temperature rating of -10 to 70°C makes these sensors particularly useful in cold pilger rolling mills that draw seamless pipes.

E-T-A ESS22-T Rail-Mounted Double Pole Electronic Circuit Breaker

E-T-A Circuit Breakers is pleased to announce the introduction of the ESS22-T rail-mounted electronic circuit breaker. Intended for the use in ungrounded systems, the ESS22-T is the ideal solution for select types of medical equipment and subsea applications. The ESS22-T is designed with selective disconnection and double-pole physical isolation of loads which allows the product to only disconnect the faulty load circuits in the event of an overload or short circuit. Its rapid response to overloads or short circuits maintains a consistent control voltage for the other loads - such as PLCs, control systems and bus couplers - preventing downtime of the entire system.

Specifications
E-T-A’s ESS22-T is available in a range of current ratings from 0.5A to 10A. Short circuit currents are limited to 1.4 times the rated current and the faulty load is disconnected after approximately 100ms. Inrush peaks, from switching on capacitive loads up to 20,000 µF are tolerated, avoiding nuisance tripping. In the event of an overload, the electronic circuit breaker will disconnect at 1.1 times the rated current after 3 seconds.

The ESS22-T can be snapped easily onto industry standard rails and its slim design of 22.5 mm width x 90 mm height/depth saves space in compact control cabinets. Status indication of the connected load circuit is provided by a multicolored LED and the state of the ON/OFF switch. In the event of a failure, two physically isolated contacts provide a failure signal to the control system. The load circuit can be reset using the manual ON/OFF switch which can also be used during maintenance.

Turck Kübler Draw Wire Encoders

Kübler by TURCK has expanded its draw wire series with versions that measure 0.25 meters to 40 meters. This system is designed to work with sensors and encoders with analog outputs, such as 0 to 10V, 4 to 20mA and potentiometers, as well as incremental (push-pull and RS422), absolute (SSI and BISS) and fieldbus (CANopen, PROFIBUS®, DeviceNet™ and EtherCat) interfaces.

At the core of a draw wire device is a drum mounted on bearings, onto which a wire is wound. The winding takes place via using a constant force spring that results in high traverse speed of up to 10 m/s, and acceleration of up to 140 m/s2. A long service life of approximately 2 million complete cycles can be achieved with draw wire encoders.

The robust draw wire system is constructed with a titanium-anodized aluminum housing and a stainless-steel wire with a diameter of 0.5 mm. The wire experiences no wear due to a diamond-polished ceramic guide. A wide temperature range of -20 to 85°C (options available with -40 to 90°C range), as well as the optional IP67 protection rating, permit use in difficult environmental conditions.

The systems have a linearity of up to 0.05 percent and can be supplied (on request) with the relevant calibration certificate.
