Banner Engineering Safety Light Curtains in IP69K Hygienic Housings

Banner Engineering's EZ-SCREEN® LS safety light curtains that resist high-pressure, high-temperature washdown and aggressive chemical cleaning are now available. They offer the same capabilities and ease-of-use of other EZ-SCREEN LS safety light curtains, but are protected by hygienic tubular enclosures. They are ideal for use in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications where maintaining sanitary conditions is critical.

FEATURES:
  • Easy-to-Clean, Hygienic Design: Made of FDA grade polycarbonate tubes and 316L stainless steel endcaps and mounting brackets, each enclosure has a smooth, hygienic design that minimizes the opportunity for debris to accumulate, to comply with sanitary requirements.
  • Chemically-Resistant Construction: IP69K rated enclosures withstand frequent, repeated exposure to many chemical cleaning agents used to sterilize equipment. They will not discolor or become cloudy over time, ensuring reliable performance for safety light curtains as well as a long operational lifespan.
  • Hydrophobic Vent: Allows condensation to escape the enclosure and prevents water and chemicals from entering, eliminating the need for an integral heater element and simplifying maintenance.
  • Remote Configuration of Fixed Blanking: Models with Remote Fixed Blanking can be set up to ignore fixed objects, such as brackets or fixtures, inside the defined area without directly accessing the receiver.

Banner Engineering New Long Distance Wireless Sensors for Remote Hard - to - Reach Locations

Banner Engineering's latest additions to the Sure Cross® Q45 Series of wireless sensors are retroreflective and diffuse mode sensors that utilize the 900 MHz frequency band and 1 Watt power. They join a growing number of wireless Q45 sensors capable of communicating over extended ranges by using the 900 MHz frequency band, as well as a wide range of Q45 sensors that utilize the globally accepted 2.4 GHz frequency band. Additionally, these models and their 2.4 GHz counterparts can easily be configured for part counting applications.

FEATURES:
  • Optimized for part counting: DIP switch configurable to count up to 960 parts per minute, these sensors can be used to count parts IN and parts OUT. Users can track parts per minute, monitor machine status, identify and receive notifications of errors, and gather metrics to calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Superior signal penetration: Transmissions at 900 MHz have a long wavelength that passes through dense materials, making it possible to link devices separated by walls, vegetation, and other obstacles.
  • Extended range communication: The 900 MHz frequency band can travel over 2.5 times further than a 2.4 GHz connection, enabling reliable communication between devices over longer distances.
  • Easy, plug-and-play deployment: The sensor, wireless radio, and long-life lithium battery are housed in a single device, simplifying installation on existing equipment and enabling deployments in remote and hard-to-access locations where implementing a wired solution would be difficult, impractical, or not cost-effective.

PEPPERL+FUCHS Reliable Limit Monitoring with SC-System's New Trip Amplifier

The SC-System’s signal conditioner product family from Pepperl+Fuchs includes numerous modules for digital and analog field signals. The modules ensure that process communication is safe and efficient. In addition to transmitter power supplies, isolating amplifiers, passive isolators, and temperature and signal converters, the trip amplifier now joins the ranks of this portfolio of compact analog modules. Use the new trip amplifier to reliably control security-related parameters, recognize and fix faults, and optimize plant safety.

Clear signals, no workaround

The SC-System trip amplifier monitors measurement signals based on a previously determined limit value. If the actual value deviates from the limit value, the module sends a signal that activates an emergency trip or an alarm, as an example. Due to the module’s parameterizable outputs, switch signals are available at the relay contact outputs without the user having to refer to a central control panel.

Variety of applications for greater flexibility

In addition to its parameterizing options, the SC-System’s trip amplifier enables analysis of diverse input variables. The module processes incoming standard signals from 2-wire-transmitters, unipolar and bipolar signals from 2-wire-transmitters, as well as unipolar and bipolar current and voltage sources. The module can be adapted precisely to a specific application, providing users with utmost flexibility. Additionally, a supply of 2-wire-transmitters is available.

Safe limit value monitoring

With a separate input at the trip amplifier, a start-up override may be activated. This is useful if high pressure is necessary for a manufacturing process, but during the start-up phase its value is below the set point. The integrated start-up override enables increasing pressure without the limit indicator setting off the alarm. In another application example, pressure may be too high during operation, leading to a switch-off of the pump drive. The pressure continuously declines until finally reaching the valid range. A restart inhibit prevents the pump drive from re-starting prior to identifying and correcting the switch-off event.

SC-System—reliability in its most efficient form

The SC-System's 1- and 2-channel signal conditioners are especially designed for use in non-hazardous areas. With a width of 6 mm and a height of 97 mm, the compact modules are ideally suited for retrofitting in tight spaces. The SC-System offers high-quality three-way isolation between input, output, and supply, withstanding a working voltage of up to 300 V and a test voltage of up to 3.0 KV. The signal conditioners are designed for an operating temperature from -25 °C to +70 °C, and can be mounted horizontally or vertically without distance and reducing operating values. The SC-System modules are supplied with 24 volts via terminals or power bus, an insert for 35-mm DIN rails.

SC-System trip amplifier at a glance:

  • Reliable limit monitoring (min and max)
  • Parameterizable switching outputs
  • Various input quantities can be evaluated
  • Integrated start-up override and restart inhibit
  • Compact housing design
  • High-quality three-way isolation
  • Convenient installation, power supply and error reporting via power bus
  • Operating temperature from -25 °C to +70 °C

Turck CIP Safety Hybrid Block I/O

Turck is pleased to announce the addition of the Hybrid Safety Block I/O Module for CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP to our industry leading lineup of fieldbus technology products.

The hybrid safety concept from Turck combines both safety I/O and general purpose I/O in a single, rugged, on-machine, remote I/O device. The CIP Safety (TBIP) module expands the existing hybrid safety offering, which already includes an option for PROFIsafe over PROFINET.

Both IP67 hybrid modules can be adapted to the actual signal requirements of an installation through the use of configurable input/output points and by leveraging the flexibility of IO-Link. On the safety side, the hybrid modules offer two safety inputs for connecting safety sensors, such as light curtains or emergency stop buttons. Two additional safety channels can be used as either inputs or outputs. The general purpose (non-safety related) side includes four configurable discrete inputs/outputs capable of switching up to two amps when used as outputs. Two IO-Link master ports are also available, which offer an additional 32 points of configurable discrete I/O when used with Turck IO-Link hubs.

These devices can be used as remote safety I/O, or even operated as a standalone safety controller for local safe I/O; this allows the implementation of safety functions without the need for a safety PLC while still providing safety diagnostics and general purpose I/O data to a higher level non-safety PLC.

The high IP65/IP67/IP69K degrees of protection allow use in the most demanding environments. Decentralized plants and modular machine concepts can be implemented without the need for additional control cabinets.
