Red Lion Controls, the global experts in communication, monitoring and control for industrial automation, today announced the expansion of its next-generation line of panel products with the addition of the new PAX2S Strain Gage Meters. The PAX2S delivers advanced control and communication for weight measurement applications in environments that include food processing, truck scales, material storage and other weighing scenarios. Its advanced functionality allows plant engineers and maintenance staff to enhance overall efficiency and reduce costs by increasing accuracy in weighing processes.
With Red Lion PAX2S, users can display net weight and gross weight simultaneously, as well as communicate real-time weight information to a database or management system for monitoring, storage and reporting. This type of information is important for applications such as food processing, where monitoring and controlling the weight of each ingredient is critical to ensuring that recipes are followed closely in batch production. In addition, PAX2S uses a color changing LCD display system to alert operators to show when weight limits are being approached or exceeded.
“The PAX2S is the latest innovation in our long history of providing display products that meet the needs of both industrial and consumer environments,” said Jeff Thornton, indication product manager for Red Lion Controls. “The ideal PAX2S application is where two parameters need to be visualized at the same time, such as reading a net weight while the other display shows the material weight being added to the process. This two-source communication gives customers the information and control they require to efficiently keep processes running on time.”
The PAX2S includes a wide range of features, including:
- Programmable dual-line display – uses red, orange and green to visually highlight exceptions and changes
- Convenient input options – easily connect to load cell, strain gage or pressure sensors for fast, reliable data access
- Universal power supply – for fast, easy installation regardless of power polarity
- Swappable option cards – provide investment protection with industry-standard application support
IDEC flush mount CW switches are the best looking,
industrial-strength 22mm switches in the
market. Now, with the addition of options
including new maintained pushbutton switch
operators, rubber boots and nameplates, CW
switches are better than ever.
CW switches now offer both momentary and
maintained pushbutton switch functions. By
offering both momentary and maintained
functions, you have more options to fit
your specific applications.
The smooth design of the CW cuts down on
surface area, preventing dust and other particles
from accumulating and making regular
cleaning and maintenance easier. Now, a new
rubber boot provides a protective cover for CW
switches, making them ideal for applications
that require regular washdowns.
Marking plates are also available for the CW
switches, engraved to designate the function
of the switch or its position. Now there is no
reason for you to have switches without
clear labeling.
Offered with either black or metallic bezels,
you have a choice of illuminated pushbuttons,
pushbuttons and pilot lights in six
bright colors (amber, green, white, red, blue
and yellow). Selector and key selector switches
are also available.
CW switches are perfect for instrumentation,
medical equipment, food and beverage
processing equipment, semi-conductor equipment,
non-industrial applications (train cab,
parking machines, audio/visual equipment),
machine tools, panels, outdoor applications
and more!
IP20 finger-safe contacts extend only 39.9mm
behind the panel, saving space, while seven
possible keys provide added security. CW
switches are UL listed and CE marked, as well
as provide an IP65 degree of protection.

TURCK announces a new long-range inductive
proximity sensor using FDA rated materials for wash
down applications. The Q42—available in a top-facing
model and front-facing model—is an addition to
the uprox+ family of factor one sensors that require
no correction factor to detect any metal type. The
Q42 is designed to deliver optimal performance in
applications that require frequent cleaning with
chemicals found in food and beverage applications
or where the sensor is exposed to wet environments,
such as car washes or outdoor applications.
The Q42 features an improved design with a durable
stainless steel connector and PA12 thermoplastic
housing that delivers resistance to chemicals and
caustic cleaning agents, as well as shock from impact.
Additionally, the upgraded housing materials are
food-safe and meet FDA Regulation 21CFR 177,
1500(9) for the U.S. and FDA/EGVO 1935/2004 for the
E.U. The Q42 features integrated predamping that
gives the designer flexibility to partially recess the
sensor into their design.
The existing uprox+ washdown family is comprised
of 12, 18 and 30mm diameter barrels with sensing
ranges between 4 and 30mm. The Q42 offers a
sensing range of 50mm to all types of metals. This
not only eliminates the need to change the position
of the sensors for different metal applications, but
also reduces the number of sensor types needed for
plant operations. In addition to an extended sensing
distance, the Q42 delivers reliable operation in
temperatures ranging from -40 to 100 degrees Celsius.

The RTY Series Hall-Effect Rotary Position Sensors provide angle monitoring in harsh transportation and industrial applications at a competitive cost.
These products use a magnetically biased, Hall-effect integrated circuit (IC) to sense rotary movement of the actuator shaft over a set operating range. Rotation of the actuator shaft changes a magnet’s position relative to the IC. The resulting flux density change is converted to a linear output.
The IC, together with conditioning and protection circuitry, and the permanent magnet, is sealed in an IP67-qualified rugged package for durability in most harsh environments.
Eight operating ranges (50°, 60°, 70°, 90°, 120°, 180°, 270° and 360°) are tolerant to over-travel and allow use in most common applications. Low voltage and high voltage versions cover an input voltage range of 4.5 Vdc to 30 Vdc.
Most applications require no lever, and no brackets are necessary.

Early UPS solutions for industrial control cabinets were only basic units that performed a battery back-up function in the event of a main line power loss. These units could not indicate the condition of the connected battery. The new QUINT UPS-IQ from Phoenix Contact brings the market an intelligent product with extended visibility into the status of the batteries.
The QUINT UPS-IQ provides a robust, pure sine wave output in contrast to other UPS products that are only a modified step wave output. The pure sine wave ensures a high quality, clean output that can reliably power 120 V AC industrial components. This AC unit auto-detects the input voltage of either 120 V AC or 240 V AC, making this a product for global use.
To simplify system troubleshooting or startup, this AC UPS can start independent of an AC input. This allows users to power up an industrial PC or controller during a blackout to simplify system diagnostics. Basically, users can switch to battery mode anytime they want with no AC present.
The AC voltage QUINT UPS-IQ solution is a truly industrial UPS platform. It is UL 1778-recognized, which is specific for industrial AC UPS products. With this approval and its small size, the QUINT UPS is ideal for factory floor installations.
The QUINT UPS-IQ (AC) is also a truly scalable system with the batteries. By having external batteries, the solution can be built up using the size battery needed for the runtime required. This eliminates buying a large, self-contained unit just for the runtime. This solution uses the same batteries as the currently available QUINT UPS- IQ DC UPS product range. Using these new batteries allows for easy, “tool-less” battery replacement making maintenance easy.
This product will be utilized wherever and whenever battery backup is needed and in mission-critical
systems that cannot lose power. IQ technology makes QUINT UPS-IQ unique by providing adaptive
battery management on several levels:
- State of Charge (SOC): Indicates the remaining backup time and level of charge on the battery.
Customers will be able to see the amount of available time left at a quick glance.
- State of Health (SOH): Indicates the remaining service life of the battery module(s). The history of the
battery module(s) is recorded and an indication is provided of when the battery needs to be replaced
before it becomes a concern.
- State of Function (SOF): Indicates the capacity of the battery module(s). The available capacity of
the battery is provided giving indication as to how well the battery is accepting the charge and if the full
capacity is still available.
