Honeywell Sensing and Control Zephyr Analog Airflow Sensors

Honeywell Zephyr™ Analog Airflow Sensors: HAF Series-High Accuracy, provide an analog interface for reading airflow over the specified full scale flow span and temperature range. Their thermally isolated heater and temperature sensing elements help these sensors provide a fast response to air or gas flow.

Zephyr sensors are designed to measure mass flow of air and other non-corrosive gases. They are available in standard flow ranges and are fully calibrated and temperature compensated with an on-board Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC).

The HAF Series is compensated over the temperature range of 0° C to 50° C [32° F to 122° F] and operates across a temperature range of -20° C to 70° C [-4° F to 158° F]. The state-of-the-art ASIC-based compensation provides analog outputs with a response time of 1 ms.

These sensors operate on the heat transfer principle to measure mass airflow. They consist of a microbridge Microelectronic and Microelectromechanical System (MEMS) with temperature-sensitive resistors deposited with thin films of platinum and silicon nitride. The MEMS sensing die is located in a precise and calculated airflow channel to provide repeatable flow response.

Zephyr sensors provide customers with enhanced reliability, analog accuracy, repeatable measurements and the ability to customize sensor options to meet many specific application needs. The combination of rugged housings with a stable substrate makes these products extremely robust. They are designed and manufactured according to ISO 9001 standards.

IDEC HE6B Three-Position Enabling Switch

IDEC's new HE6B three-position enabling switch is ergonomically designed to work where human interaction is required to turn on a machine or robot while the user is in a potentially dangerous area. Typically, enabling switches are installed in grip switches or pendant stations. This 3-position enabling switch not only turns a machine on when pressed, but also turns machines off when over pressed or squeezed, as long as the switch is installed correctly in an adequate safety circuit. Two contacts are provided so that even if one contact fails, the other can disable machine operation. Functionality is the same as all previous HE devices and meets all stringent requirements to meet IEC standard 60947-5-8 for this class of products. A waterproof rubber boot, available in yellow or black, provides IP65 protection.

3 –Position Operation, how it works: By holding an enabling switch, an operator can avert danger when a machine operates unexpectedly. When the panicked operator either releases or grasps tightly the enabling switch, the switch disables the machine operation in either situation.

Rittal CP-C Support Arm System

Machine controls often need to be easily moved into a position for use, adjusted to the user's height, then pushed out of the way when the operation is complete. That's when a support arm system is ideal — get the needed changes made, then get the enclosure off to the side.

Rittal leads the way with innovative pendant arms and the housing. For heavier applications the Rittal CP-XL support arm system is ideal, and for lighter loads you can use the CP-L. Right in the middle is the CP-C, which has been configured for use with Rittal's OptiPanel and Comfort Panel cabinets and complements the design of these enclosures for a professional, finished look.

Like the other support arm systems offered by Rittal, the CP-C pendant arms can be mounted from the floor, off the side of a machine and from above. Need an elbow to create a 90 degree turn? It's available. What about a hinge in the middle? You can get that too. Want to lock the enclosure into position, but have the flexibility to rotate the cabinet if needed? No problem.

Cable runs are also easy with a large interior channel which is roomy enough for VGA or DVI connectors. Need to separate the cables? There is a partition strip that makes this simple. Automatic electrical bonding means no ground straps and smartly designed bases and hinges make adjustments to the rotation angle easy.

The Rittal CP-C system’s smart modular design and intermediate high load bearing capacity allows configurations that are ideal for practically every situation.

Turck Inclinometers with CANopen Interface

TURCK has expanded its broad offering of inclinometers with the addition of a new dual axis inclinometer sensor with a CANopen interface for angular tilt detection. These sensors have angle measurements of ±10, 45 and 60 degrees. Inclinometer sensors may be used in a wide variety of industries to solve unique feedback requirements where the customer needs to level platforms, control tilt angle or control a dancer.

About Inclinometer Technology
The new TURCK Q42 inclinometer measures angular tilt in reference to gravity. At the heart of the TURCK Q42 inclinometer is a MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) device that incorporates a micro-electromechanical capacitive element into the sensor that utilizes two parallel plate electrodes, one stationary and one attached to a spring-mass system. Movement causes acceleration that produces deflection in the non-stationary electrode. This results in a measurable change in the capacitance between the two plates that is proportional to the angle of deflection. All measured values and parameters are accessible via the object directory. The micro board design in the MEMS technology allows for a compact, precise inclinometer in a very robust, industrialized package.

Red Lion Controls Voted Best Panel Meter for 10th Year in a Row

The readers of Control Design magazine have again selected Red Lion as their number one choice in panel meters. Red Lion has won the panel meter category of the Reader's Choice Award every year since 2001, the first year the award was given. The meters won by a 20% margin over the next closest competitor.

The balloting for this survey went to machine builders and systems integrators who reported to Control Design that they had the authority to specify, recommend, or purchase industrial automation and control products for industrial machines. Vendors were not included in the balloting, and any known responses from vendors were not counted. The voting was completely un-aided, therefore no lists of vendors or product brands were provided. Readers were simply asked which was the one best company for products in the panel meter category. Red Lion was also voted as having very good to excellent service and support for their meters.
