Phoenix Contact PTS Pluggable Connectors


Enhanced with push-in technology, the new PTS 1.5-PH product from Phoenix Contact shares virtually all the same capabilities of the PT 1.5-PH product.  The PTS 1.5-PH has the smallest profile of any connector in its class and now has "Snap-Fit" locking option when mated to a PST 1.3-SF header.

Phoenix Contact M12 Fiber Optic Cabling System


Phoenix Contact has introduced the first M12 fiber optic connection system for plastic optical fiber (POF), polymer clad fiber (PCF) and glass optical fiber (GOF).  The small footprint of the M12, combined with fiber optic technology, provides quick and reliable connectivity, as well as high data transmission speeds.

These products are designed to perform in harsh industrial conditions such as wet, dirty, dusty or hot environments, or when exposed to vibrations, shocks or EMC.  Integrated transceivers allow direct connection to the PCB for all fiber types.  The new M12 fiber optic system is the first active optical interface with the same dimensions as the proven M12 connectors for copper cabling.

Banner WLC60 LED Light



The Stainless Steel version of the WLC60 was designed for use in extremely harsh conditions. The corrosion resistant 316L housing can endure caustic solutions, acids, and detergents making this product ideal for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, and marine applications. The housing is sealed with a nitrile o-ring and models are available with either polycarbonate or tempered borosilicate glass windows. With an IP69K rating this product can withstand high pressure and high temperature washdown typical in food processing plants. TURCK VB2 Splitter



TURCK announces the availability of a redesigned VB2 splitter with LED’s. The new VB2 features a translucent black overmolded design, which encapsulates the LED’s and protects them from physical damage while also complimenting visibility. The design enhancement also enables the LED’s to be visible from both sides of the splitter, allowing it to now be mounted on either side where the previous version only 
allowed mounting on one side for the LED’s to be visible.

This VB2 splitter is used to consolidate two separate discrete PNP device signals into a single cable and can be used in any application multiple discrete PNP signals are being used. It is an ideal solution for applications trying to use multiple sensors or send multiple signals from a confined area. The LED’s provide a visual indication of when the circuit has power applied and when discrete signals are present. The VB2 has a rating of 10-30 VDC at up to 4 amps. The new overmolded design provides the splitter with an improved ingress rating of IP68. Products that are given an IP68 rating must first pass TURCK testing which requires them to be submerged at a depth of 6 feet for 24 hours.

The V-Series Contura XIV snap-in rocker switches offer countless unique options including choices for ratings, circuits, colors, illuminations and legends. These single or double pole switches feature removable actuators in a choice of actuator styles and colors, and can be illuminated with either square or bar shaped lenses. Actuators may be purchased and stocked separately. An optional plug-in terminal connector enables pre-wiring of harnesses.

The Contura switches, with sealed option, are certified to IP66 and IP68 for front panel components, signifying complete protection against dust, prolonged spray, submersion under pressure and are recognized to UL1500 - Ignition Protection for Marine Products. TURCK EG05K & EH04K Barrel Sensors



TURCK is proud to announce the addition of new 4mm and 5mm barrel sensors to its existing lineup. The new EG05K and EH04K are 15mm shorter than the standard EG05 and EH04, which allow the new offering to be used in applications previously not possible. This new, more compact offering is a welcome addition to the stamping Industry, medical device manufacturing and any application where small sensors are a requirement. 

The EG05K and EH04K are housed in a stainless steel barrel and come with a high flex TPU cable ensuring it can withstand harsh applications including those involving corrosive chemicals. Offering a 1mm sensing range and full flush mounting, the EG05K and EH04K reduce the chance of damage while still offering the sensing range demanded. The EG05K and EH04K come equipped with a high visibility LED to provide users a visual indication of the sensor’s status.

“We created the EG05K and EH05K in response to hearing customers request a solution that met the increasingly compact requirements brought on by the shrinking size of machinery ”, explains John Murphy, Product Manager for TURCK. “These new additions provide our customers with the shortest M4 and M5 sensors on the market while retaining the robust qualities our customers expect from TURCK”. 

The EH04K is available in 2 meters of potted cable, while the EG05K is available in 2 meters of potted cable or with an integral M8 connector. The sensors are IP67 rated, have an operating temperature range from -25° C to 70° C, and offer PNP and NPN configurations for increased application flexibility.

Pepperl+Fuchs R2000 UHD Laser Scanner



Pepperl+Fuchs introduces the R2000 UHD Laser Scanner. This IP65-rated 2D photoelectric sensor leverages Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) and a rotating head to deliver quick, precise and high resolution distance measurement. Combined with a gapless 360° measuring angle and interactive wrap-around LED display, the result is highly reliable detection of objects to 10m (33 ft.) and/or reflectors to 60m (197 ft.), with quick visual status indication and access to extensive measurement data, in a single, compact device. An eye-safe, class 1 red laser light promotes quick and easy set-up and alignment.

“We think the R2000 represents the new gold standard for distance measurement sensors,” says Michael Turner, Product Manager – Photoelectric Sensing. “Pulse Ranging Technology is the most effective time-of-flight measurement technology available today, providing maximum precision and reliability over large distances, even in harsh ambient conditions. The R2000 UHD combines PRT with a rotating, measuring head capable of extremely high accuracy measurements at lightning fast scan rates – all in a cutting edge and compact design that is smaller than most coffee mugs. It also has a pinpoint light spot to detect small objects, reflectors or edges.”

Just 106 mm (4.2”) x 106 mm (4.2”) x 117 mm (4.6”) (LxWxH), these laser scanners feature an interactive, 360° LED display capable of both text-based and graphical information, paving the way for new display and operating concepts. In addition to displaying basic status information, the display can provide an image of the scanned environment, enabling users to better visualize the current application.

R2000 UHD laser scanners feature a high 50Hz scan rate (3000 RPM), enabling them to detect protrusions or obstacles over a large area and at high speeds – ideal for material handling and ASRS applications. The gapless 360° scanning angle is perfect for positioning, area monitoring or collision avoidance applications. Extremely high angular resolution and precise measurement provide accurate navigation for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots.

The R2000 UHD has a fast Ethernet interface capable of transmitting data at speeds up to 100 Mbit/s. Distance data is received as packets using a separate TCP/IP or UDP/IP channel, and a simple HTTP command protocol is provided in order to configure the device. You can develop software to meet the requirements of your application. Additionally, a driver for the Robotic Operating System (ROS) is now available for use with the R2000 UHD. ROS provides libraries and tools to help software developers create robot applications.

Sensors with PRT emit a very short, high-intensity light pulse. They calculate object distance based on the speed-of-light constant and time-of-flight of the reflected light pulse. Unlike other time-of-flight sensors that transmit a continuous light beam, PRT sensors emit short pulses of high-intensity light up to 250,000 times per second. Compared to a continuous source that uses lasers, the energy density of one PRT LED pulse can be up to 1,000 times greater. This allows stable and highly reliable detection, even at distances of 300 meters or more.

R2000 UHD distance measurement scanners are rated for use in temperatures ranging from -10 … 50°C (14 … 122°F). They have an anticipated operating life, dependent on operating conditions, of up to 20 years.

In contrast to triangulation-based sensors, the detection range of a PRT sensor is not limited by the geometric layout of the sensor optics. Consequently, PRT sensors with smaller housings can be used for significantly larger detection ranges – providing impeccable measurement quality.
