Turck Compact Magnetic Absolute Multiturn Encoders
Turck announces an expansion of its encoder offering with the release of Compact Magnetic Absolute Multiturn Encoders.
Available in Analog, CANopen, and SSI output, these compact devices are ideal for OEM applications where space is limited, and where reliability and pricing are a factor. The cost-competitive nature of this product will also see it used in a wide range of general position applications.
“These are the first encoders from Turck with Energy Harvesting Technology,” explained Marty Cwach, senior product manager for sensors. “No longer are there worries of battery life or mechanical gears to track revolutions in these magnetic multiturn devices. This is the next great step in providing our customers with an increasing portfolio of Turck encoder solutions.”
Turck’s compact magnetic absolute multiturn encoders come in a 39mm diameter housing. The standard product line offers IP65/IP67 protection, while the Robust series includes IP66/IP67/IP69K ingress protection and 316 Stainless Steel materials. Both versions are able to withstand harsh environments with water and chemical spray, or even high shock areas.

Turck TBEN-L-RFID Module w/ PLC Capabilities
To streamline RFID integration and data processing in HF and UHF applications, Turck introduces its TBEN-L-RFID interface module with PLC capabilities via CODESYS. This compact module’s controller function can filter and pre-process RFID data and link to broader control operations, enabling high-speed dynamic or multi-tag RFID applications.
The TBEN-L-RFID’s design makes this module ideal for retrofitting RFID applications. An IP67 rating allows its use outside the cabinet, and actuators and sensors can be connected with HF and UHF RFID read/write heads simultaneously. These features reduce the installation and wiring efforts that are required for industrial identification solutions.
“This device expands on the powerful combination of advanced features and simplistic integration in our recently released ultracompact TBEN-S-RFID interface. The new TBEN-L-RFID offers our users a fully programmable package, with ample RFID and I/O to meet the majority of industrial applications all while staying outside of the cabinet,” said Don Eichman, fieldbus technology product manager.
For additional flexibility, you can set the multiprotocol device to one of the Ethernet protocols – PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP – via the CODESYS environment. The module offers 256 MB of flash memory and runs on an 800 MHz CPU, which accesses a 128 MB DDR3-RAM. It is connected via an M12 connector to the Ethernet layer, and power is supplied via a 7/8” connector.
The TBEN-Lx-4RFID-8DXP-CDS offers four RFID ports for HF or UHF readers, and eight universal DXP I/Os for sensors or actuators. With its full programmability and increased I/O, the device extends the capabilities of the TBEN-S-RFID module. The TBEN-S-RFID offers two RFID ports and four configurable digital I/O points for external devices, as well as an IP67 rating for seamless integration into existing applications.

E-T-A ETR10 Electronic Relay with Timer Function
The smart power relay ETR10 (Electronic Timer Relay) from E-T-A is a remotely controllable solid state timer relay and holds two functions in a single device:
- Solid state relay with timer function (time delay, pulsing, blinking)
- Electronic overcorrect protection
The relay fits into 4-pole or 7-pole standard automotive relay sockets to ISO 7588 (ISO Mini). It is suitable for system voltages of DC 12 V and DC 24 V (operating range DC 9...32 V) and can switch currents between 1 and 30 A.
For remote switching and protection of loads, two separate components had up to now often to be connected in the load circuit as a functional unit:
- An electro-mechanical relay or solid state relay which is powered via the control cable and then closes the circuit by means of the integral contact or power semi-conductor.
- An additional protective element (circuit breaker or fuse) providing line or equipment protection in the event of a failure.
The ETR10 combines the timer relay function with overcurrent protection in a single component, thus minimising the number of connections in the circuit and reducing the failure risk. In addition the ETR10 is remotely resettable after overload tripping if an overload in the load path has caused the relay to switch off.
FEATURES
- Selectable timer functions:
- ON and OFF delay
- blinking or pulsing function as well as combinations
- Plus-switching (positive control) solid state relay with high side switch (HSS) for load currents between 1A and 30A
- Silent switching
- Wear-free and robust design, insensitive to shock, vibration and dust (no mechanical contacts)
- Very low closed current and switching current consumption
- Integral protection against short circuit and overload in the load circuit
- Remotely resettable upon detection and disconnection of overcurrent by means of the protective function
- Status and signal outputs for monitoring
- Fits into standard ISO Mini automotive relay sockets

Carlo Gavazzi RSGD Soft Starters
Carlo Gavazzi is proud to announce the launch of the new compact, 45mm wide RSGD Series Soft Starter. The RSGD is an easy to use soft-starter for 3-phase induction AC motors, needing just three settings. The self-learning algorithm adjusts the soft starter parameters to work with different applications and varying load conditions. It is active at every start to ensure that the motor always starts with the optimal settings. New current balancing algorithm keeps the current unbalance to less than 15%.
The RSGD Series offers an option for Class 10 electronic overload, providing advanced motor protection and resulting in further space savings in the electrical panel. Phase sequence protection can be enabled and disabled easily through the integrated push button, thus simplifying installation in applications that require reversing. Torque controlled ramp-down results in much smoother deceleration of motors. All these features are offered in one of the most compact soft starters on the market.
The new 45mm RSGD Series Soft Starter offers time and space-saving installation. It conforms to global standard UL508 and IEC/EN/60947-4-2. Therefore it can be used worldwide for control of pumps, fans, and compressors in markets such as Water Treatment, Agriculture, Building Automation, and HVAC.
FEATURES
- Operational current 12A up to 45A
- Horsepower rating up to 40 HP
- Operational voltage: 220VAC up to 600VAC
- 24VAC/VDC or 100-240VAC control voltage
- Two phase controlled with internal bypass
- Optional: motor overload protection (Class 10)
- Compact 45mm wide housing
- Self-learning algorithm to optimize motor starts
- Current balancing algorithm
- Two relay outputs for Alarm and Top of Ramp
- cUL, CE, CCC, EAC approvals
