TURCK introduces the new IP67-rated FAS8 Advanced I/O Module (AIM)
station, the latest addition to the company’s line of AIM stations for AS-interface® (AS-i) networks. Previously only
available in four-port configurations, the FAS8 provides users with an eight-port AIM station model.
The FAS8 station includes one digital PNP I/O signal per port, with an option for 2 Amp outputs. Providing the
highest level of compatibility with industrial networking requirements, the station is designed to meet the latest
AS-I V3.0 specification, allowing increased communication options for analog data and detailed diagnostic
information.
Featuring PNP short-circuit protected inputs, the FAS8 automatically restricts current to prevent failures in the
event of a sensor failure. Plus, through AS-i V3.0 specifications, users are quickly notified through a fault signal
indication if there is a short-circuit on any I/O point. This module also supports both AS-I standard flat cable and
round cable to accommodate current connection trends.
“While our customers liked the performance capabilities of the popular four-port AIM station, many were using
splitters to access all I/O points,” said Don Eichman, Product Specialist Networks at TURCK. “We responded with
the development of the FAS8, allowing users to effectively meet their connectivity requirements.”
The FAS8 station is fully encapsulated and potted, sealing it against environmental contaminants and
eliminating the need for a separate enclosure for protection. With its durable construction and IP67 rating, the
station is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications—protecting against dust and moisture ingress to
prevent performance failures in wet and dry environments.

Phoenix Contact has released its next generation of sensor/actuator boxes (SACBs) for use in the general industrial sector. For the first time, the SPEEDCON half-turn locking design that has become widely accepted in a metal thread is now offered in a rugged plastic thread. These new SPEEDCON boxes will replace the existing standard plastic thread boxes, and are priced 25 percent lower than the SPEEDCON metal thread boxes.
Passive sensor boxes are easy to install in the field. They are machine-mountable, save time, space and money when compared to hard-wiring I/O connections. SACBs have multiple functions and options to suit any industrial application. Pre-wired sensor boxes for 24/120 volt PNP or NPN signal distribution help machine builders save space with a compact design. Our M12 sensor boxes save installation time with prewired connector slots, which give a plug-and-play connection and quick disconnect of pigtail sensors and actuators in the field. The optional built-in LED provides easy detection of power and device status and simplifies troubleshooting.

The Process Fieldbus Infrastructure solutions from Phoenix Contact offer connectivity from the process controller to the field devices for Foundation Fieldbus or Profibus PA applications. Solutions are provided for both the control cabinet and the field.
Fieldbus isolated power supplies provide power while allowing digital communications to one segment. In the field, preconfigured field junction boxes with device couplers offer device connectivity and process protection.
Together with redundant bulk power, surge protection and cabling cordsets, the line provides a complete connection architecture. The Fieldbus line was designed specifically to meet the tough requirements of the process environment.
POWER SUPPLIES
Each DIN rail-mounted fieldbus power supply provides high-integrity power for one H1 segment. They are galvanically isolated and include a fixed end-of-line terminator. Built-in output impedance allows digital communications and DC power to coexist on a pair of wires. Passive filtering allows for low heat dissipation and long service life. Pluggable connectors and local diagnostic LEDs permit easy installation and troubleshooting.
Simplex power
- Non-redundant power for one segment
- Connections for redundant bulk power
- Input power can be distributed along the DIN rail
using the T-bus connector, thus reducing wiring
- No space required between modules optimizes
cabinet size
- Output 360 mA at 25 V
- FB-PS-25/0.36A 2316035
Redundant power
- Redundant power for one segment per
base module
- Swappable plugs provide high availability
- Ample pluggable connectors makes
wiring easy
- High power output, 500 mA at 28 V
- FB-PS-PLUG 2316132
- FB-PS-BASE 2316145
FIELD JUNCTION BOXES
Designed specifically for field device coupler systems, these assemblies allow for easy wiring and
convenient cable management. Choose from two sizes of aluminum and two sizes of stainless steel.
- Size and weight optimized
- “Starter” rail with PT base, terminals, end clips
and FB-ET
- Busbar and shield clamps
- Allows flexible addition of FB-2SP and FB-ISO,
offered separately
- PT plug ordered separately, or base used as a
simple wiring terminal
- Entries for trunk-in, trunk-out and breather
- Large: ten spurs and two spares
- Small: five spurs and one spare
- FB-15-SS 2316190
- FB-9-SS 2316213
- FB-15-AL 2316187
- FB-8-AL 2316200
DEVICE COUPLERS
FB-ET connects to the trunk and includes a pre-installed external terminator to avoid errors at
commissioning. For hazardous locations, FB-2SP and FB-ISO connect to field devices and provide shortcircuit
and energy limiting. Voltage and communication are routed via modular T-bus connectors installed
on the DIN rail. Compact module width and single-sided spur wiring allow size and weight optimization of
the junction box.

- FB-2SP 2316051
- FB-ISO 2316064
COMPLETE SOLUTION
Modular fieldbus components from Phoenix
Contact save installation and maintenance
time for your fieldbus application.
Traditionally, energy limiting was done in the
control cabinet for both nonincendive and
intrinsically safe protection applications.
The Phoenix Contact modular approach distributes
the energy-limiting protection to the field. Since
energy is limited on a per spur basis, restrictions
are not imposed on power supply voltage or total
allowable segment current. This means longer
cable runs and more instruments per segment.

Phoenix Contact’s new range of narrow single-function timer relays saves valuable cabinet space. The ETD-BL relays’ housings measure just 6.2 mm, up to 70 percent narrower than conventional timer relays.
The relays have a labeled thumb wheel at the front to ensure precise time settings. To protect against unintentional adjustments, the wheel is recessed into the casing and can be adjusted using a screwdriver. Time settings range from 0.1 to 5 seconds and have four different functions for easy customization.
The 24 V DC timer relays transmit output signals by using a floating change-over contact. Equivalent potentials can be quickly connected using a plug-in bridge system from Phoenix Contact’s PLC relay product range. An optional PLC-V8 adapter can connect the relays to Varioface system cables quickly and securely.
The new compact timer relays can eliminate the need for mini controllers in some applications. They require no software programming, saving both time and money. Only one selection of time parameter is all that is needed.
