Red Lion N-Tron Series Ethernet Injector



Red Lion adds Gigabit Power Over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) injectors to its industrial networking portfolio with the availability of the new N-Tron series 1000-POE+. This small form-factor PoE+ power injector is ideal for deployment in oil and gas, water/wastewater, utility, transportation, mining and factory environments.

Providing up to 30 watts of output power and a wider operating temperature range than many competitive offerings, the 1000-POE+ injectors enable users to  conserve wiring space and cost while ensuring reliable operation in extreme locations.

Pepperl+Fuchs ML100 Photoelectric Sensor


Pepperl+Fuchs has added three high performance diffuse mode sensors to its family of user-friendly and field-proven ML100 Series photoelectric sensors. These new versions are designed to provide advanced performance for increasingly complex and space-constrained applications. The ML100-8-W is equipped with an extra-wide beam light spot for detecting transparent objects or use on heavily textured and angled surfaces. The ML100-8-HW provides background evaluation sensing based on the triangulation principle for detecting irregularly shaped objects or use on low contrast targets such as black-on-black. New ML100 sensors with multi-beam background suppression (ML100-8-H-100) offer three light spots, ideal for detecting non-uniform objects.

 

The ML100-8-W has an extra-large light spot to prevent false trips on heavily textured surfaces, and is highly resistant to vibration and object tilting. This diffuse mode sensor is also sensitive enough to reliably detect transparent objects.  This makes them perfect for use on conveyor routes for glass or module transport. In addition, it is ideal in flat panel production, particularly on lifting tables or track switches.

The ML100-8-HW receiver, consisting of a near-field element and far-field element, is able to clearly distinguish between a background such as a metal frame, and an object in the detection area. In doing so the sensor references the determined background. The object is detected if, due to the geometrical arrangement, more light falls on the near-field element than on the far-field element. It is also recognized if no light reaches the receiver, e.g., if the light is reflected by a shiny object. This enables operation without the need for separate retro-reflectors. The diffuse mode sensor also
reliably detects flat objects or objects with low reflectivity in front of a close background, e.g. black rubber parts on conveyor belts.

The ML100-8-H-100 sensor has three light spots for redundancy. As a special feature, the outputs include a logical AND and OR link. The OR output activates when any one of the three light spots is interrupted, enabling non-uniform objects to be reliably detected. The AND output only activates if all three light spots are interrupted. Thus, even object properties can be recognized while interference in the surrounding area (such as dust) can be ignored.

HARTING High-Density Monoblock Inserts

HARTING has expanded the capabilities of two best-selling modular connector series, Han-Eco® and Han-Yellock®, by developing dedicated, high density monoblock inserts for each. With these inserts, a single Han-Eco® or Han-Yellock® connector can replace a bigger connector or multiple units for significant space savings on the device or control cabinet.

The new Han-Eco® monoblock E inserts with screw termination, like the existing Han-Yellock® monoblocks, are designed as snap-in modules for fast, tool-free assembly. Han-Eco® monoblocks use the same Han® E contacts with wire protection that have already proven themselves in millions of applications, yet offer up to 67% more contact density than Han® E inserts. The monoblocks have a rated voltage of 500V and current of 16A and feature a pre-leading PE contact (ground). This results in contact numbers of 10, 14, 20 and 28 plus PE for the four Han-Eco® housing sizes respectively. These monoblocks can be combined with modules from the Han-Modular® series in any Han-Eco® housing to mix transmission media. For their part, Han-Yellock® monoblocks offer 25 or 48 contacts with crimp termination for housing sizes 30 and 60 respectively.

Han-Eco® connectors are made of glass-fiber reinforced high-performance plastics. This product has quickly established itself on the market in the last two years as a lower weight, economical and extremely reliable and durable alternative to metal connectors, ideal as an OEM part or aftermarket replacement. The rugged plastic housings are highly resistant to environmental influences; when locked, Han-Eco® achieves protection class IP65. This, in turn, has led to its speedy adoption for use with machinery of all kinds, conveyor systems, broadcast equipment, and throughout the rail, marine and offshore wind power sectors. TURCK Contactless Inductive Coupler



TURCK USA is launching the NIC contactless inductive coupler, a wear free alternative to classic connectivity solutions. The new NIC series can be used for data and energy transmission and is able to transfer up to 12 Watts and .5 amps of power across an air gap of 7 mm. With a tolerated angle offset up to 15 degrees and a parallel offset up to 5 millimeters, the couplers can also be fitted in restricted and non-standard mounting locations while still allowing for full power transfer.

The current version of the NIC series transfers two PNP switch signals. If the primary unit is connected to an IO-Link master, signals can be transferred bi-directionally from IO-Link-capable sensors and signals from IO-Link-capable DI/ DO junction modules can also be controlled. When using a primary unit with an integrated IO-Link master and a 12-pole plug connector, and with a TBIL- M1-16DIP I/O hub on the secondary side, up to eight switching signals can be transferred, which can be used on the primary side as separate outputs.

A diagnostic function detects the presence of the secondary unit as well as any metal objects in the air gap which may weaken a transfer.

As a “contactless connector” the new product series is an ideal solution for the wear problems occurring with plug and wiper contacts subject to severe stress. In overhead conveyor systems or on rollers, the inductive couplers offer a maintenance-free alternative to the wear-intensive slip ring. The speed of the system is ideal for use in applications with high cycle rates such as tool changer robots or rotary indexing tables: The secondary unit is operational within 10 milliseconds and supports Dynamic Pairing, i.e. the coupling of any primary and secondary units. The application specific tag in the IO-Link protocol makes it possible to identify the relevant IO-Link device precisely, which means it is possible to replace the use of additional identification equipment such as RFID for a tool or skid change application.

TURCK's Powerfast for Process Automation



TURCK expands its powerfast line of connectivity products to include a full line of solutions for process automation applications. Designed to replace expensive, time-consuming hardwiring methods, powerfast for process automation provides a robust and reliable modular wiring solution. HARTING Ha-VIS eCon Ethernet Switches Stand for High Efficiency and Performance 

High efficiency and performance, along with simple and quick operation - the new Ha-VIS eCon Unmanaged Ethernet Switches place a premium on meeting these demands.

The Ha-VIS eCon 3000 Fast Ethernet PoE family of unmanaged Ethernet switches is equipped with up to 8 Fast Ethernet ports and allow for cost-efficient and quick expansion and/or reconstruction of network infrastructures.

The switches work as power sourcing equipment (PSE) and are capable of simultaneously providing the full PoE output of 34.2 watts on up to four ports.

The slender design of the switches enables an extremely high packing density on the DIN rail. The selection includes various combinations of variants with RJ45 and fibre optic ports. Pepperl+Fuchs PMI Linear Inductive Sensors


Pepperl+Fuchs introduces two new PMI40 models to its family of PMI linear inductive sensors. PMI40-F90-U-V15 and PMI40-F90-I-V15 sensors offer a 40 mm distance measurement ideal for vertical valve measurements. PMI linear measurement sensors are an ideal replacement for standard cylindrical analog sensors because they deliver greater linear range, linearity and accuracy. With these new models, PMI linear inductive sensors are now available with linear ranges of 14mm, 40mm, 80mm, 104mm and 120mm to satisfy a wide range of sensing requirements.

“Unlike cylindrical analog sensors, PMI sensors do not measure changes in distance so the vibration and machine tolerance of the vertical valve do not affect position and accuracy. As a result, the PMI provides an enormous advantage in improving the overall accuracy of a machine’s processes,” says Robert Pasho, Product Manager.


The optimal distance from PMI40 to the standard sensor target (BT-F90-W) is 2mm, but an available sensing range of 0.5 to 3 mm delivers accurate linear position regardless of the sensing range. The 40 mm linear distance delivers 33 ┬Ám resolution. The shorter housing of the PMI40 enables it to be applied where models with longer housings are unsuitable.

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces the Multi-Beam LED Scanner R2100. The R2100 combines Pepperl+Fuchs’ exclusive Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) with Ultra-IR LEDs and Multi-Beam Scan. This technology combination delivers two-dimensional measurement over an entire area rather than just one point to ensure precise and reliable distance measurement and detection of irregular surfaces. As a result, it is an ideal solution for challenging indoor and outdoor mobile equipment, intralogistics and machine and plant engineering applications where unique surfaces need to be accurately and reliably detected.

“The  R2100 is a revolutionary 2D distance measurement sensor with a host of innovative features that delivers significant and tangible benefits to users,” says Michael Turner, Product Manager – Photoelectric Sensing. ”Multi-Beam Scan eliminates the need for moving parts that over time can break down or wear out. Ultra-IR LEDs deliver an 8 meter operating range without requiring a reflector, and they produce a larger light spot than laser emitters – a distinct advantage when detecting objects with irregular surfaces or textures. Additionally, PRT is the most effective time-of-flight measurement technology available today and provides maximum precision and reliability over large distances and in the harshest ambient conditions.”

Sensors with PRT emit a very short, high-intensity light pulse. They calculate object distance based on the speed-of-light constant and time-of-flight of the reflected light pulse. Unlike other time-of-flight sensors that transmit a continuous light beam, PRT sensors emit short pulses of high-intensity light up to 250,000 times per second. Compared to a continuous source that uses lasers, the energy density of one PRT LED pulse can be up to 1,000 times greater. This allows stable and highly reliable detection, even at distances of 300 meters or more. 

In contrast to triangulation-based sensors, the detection range of a PRT sensor is not limited by the geometric layout of the sensor optics. Consequently, PRT sensors with smaller housings can be used for significantly larger detection ranges – providing impeccable measurement quality.

Application Examples
The R2100 is perfectly suited to detect the mowing edge on harvesters. With Multi-Beam Scan (multiple emitter elements arranged side-by-side span a 2D area over 88 degrees), the LED Scanner ensures precise guidance along the harvesting line and provides reliable measurement results, even on uneven agricultural landscapes. Additionally, the sensor has no moving parts to break down or wear out over time. This lack of moving parts also promises extra durability, ruggedness and measurement stability. 

The R2100 is also ideal for automated storage and retrieval (ASRS) tasks in the material handling and logistics industries. Lightning-fast PRT guarantees fast response times for rapid processes. Eye-safe Ultra-IR LEDs and no moving parts result in low power consumption and allow operation over a wide range of temperatures – without any additional cooling equipment needed.
